edit

Location

edit

The Infobox had the latitude and longtude values switched. As a result, the city was not located on the map show. I changed (77.0° N 18.5° E) to (19.09° N 77.27° E). Note that besides swapping the latitude and longtidude, I have also changed the values slightly. These values were taken from [1]. I don't know of an authoritative source, but these new values appear to correct by checking a map.

In article text itself says "Its Longitude 77.7 to 78.15. East and Its Latitude is 18.15 to 19.55". The new latitude value I have set in the Infobox falls just outside this range. However, I don't know the correct range for the limits of the city, so I have left it as it is. If anyone has accurate information, please update the text. --Chipmunk 18:00, 27 January 2007 (UTC) Aditya.raghavan (talk) 18:58, 18 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Demographics

edit

The first paragraph is a little ambiguous "Nanded is a typical mid sized city in Maharashtra. However due in part to its location and history, it is more diverse than its peers. Majority of the people 95% speak Marathi. About 5%% of its population is Muslim and speaks a Deccan version of Urdu. Another 4% is Punjabi/Hindi speaking Sikhs. Also there is substantial amount of Telugu speakers."

The percentages don't make sense. In case some people are bilingual speakers, it should be mentioned. No references for the demographics.

Request for Semi-Protection

edit

There has been mass edits and vandalism on this page by unknown IP addresses. So I am requesting for semi-protection where only registered users can edit the article.--Rizwanmahai (talk) 04:56, 17 August 2015 (UTC) @Vin09: and @Human3015: I need your consent.--Rizwanmahai (talk) 04:58, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Rizwanmahai: Semi-protection is usually done for recent vandalism. Last IP edit was yesterday which was not vandalism. Before that IP editing was on 5th August, 12 days ago, which is not recent, so it is less likely that page will get semi-protected as of now. If we find IP vandalism in future then we can request semi-protection by using twinkle. Regards. --Human3015Send WikiLove  05:10, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Human3015: Bro, but there has been mass edits every alternate day in the month of June and I have tried cleaning up this article many times and each time a new IP creates non sense.--Rizwanmahai (talk) 05:23, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Rizwanmahai: June is not relevant today, admins semi-protect page only for recent ongoing disruptive editing. We can watch for page, if any IP repeatedly does any disruptive editing then we can ask for semi-protection that too for limited time. Even if I ask or 5 people ask for semi-protection of this article, still no admin will do that. --Human3015Send WikiLove  05:29, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Support@Human3015:. Vandalism means a number of edits by IPs in the recent days. @Rizwanmahai: one or two can be tackled by users by reverting or correcting. Thanks.--Vin09 (talk) 06:41, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not done requests for page protection must be made at WP:Requests for page protection and currently, this page would not qualify - Arjayay (talk) 08:02, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dies

edit

A Guru never dies but attains immortality. My family has been visiting the place since 25 years and the local people never say that Guru Gobind Singh Ji died here but they say he attained immortality here. We should restrict ourselves from using this terminology completely as it is disrespectful. The second thing is that it is mandatory to use Ji as we are referring to God here. It is a necessity. Let us all be respectful to God. Knowledge should teach us the right things in the way they are ought to be learned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paramdeeptung (talkcontribs) 20:45, 24 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • As I said elsewhere: Wikipedia is not a religious text. It doesn't use honorifics with the names of personalities of various religions (except in direct quotes), and it doesn't include religious beliefs presented as a fact. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 21:31, 24 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
