Khushi Kapoor (born 5 November 2000) is an Indian actress who works in Hindi films. Born to actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, she has played Betty Cooper in The Archies (2023), which marked her screen debut.[1][2]

Early life and background

Kapoor was born on 5 November 2000.[3][4][5] Born to actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor. She is the granddaughter of Surinder Kapoor. She is the niece of film actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.[6] She has one elder sister, actress Janhvi Kapoor[7] and two half siblings, actor Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor from her father's first marriage to producer Mona Shourie. Her cousins include actors Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, and Mohit Marwah. Kapoor lost her mother at age 17, when she was found dead of an accidental drowning in Dubai.[8][9]

Kapoor did her schooling at Mumbai's École Mondiale World School.[10] She later did a year acting course at the New York Film Academy in New York City, in 2019.[11]

Career

Kapoor made her student acting debut in 2016 with the YouTube short film "Bhasm Ho: Pyaar Ka Takraar", playing Pinki Kashyup.[12] And then again in 2020 she made her official debut, with the student short film Speak Up, playing Naina.[11] In 2023, she made her Hindi film debut with The Archies, portraying Betty Cooper.[13] It was released on Netflix in December 2023.[14] Sukanya Verma of Rediff.com stated, "Khushi Kapoor appears cute in her sunshine smiles and groomed-in glow but need to loosen up and give that extra something to the camera."[15] While Shilajit Mitra of The Hindu found Kapoor to be "most effective" with her sad, unvarnished performance.[16]

Kapoor will next be seen in Dharma Productions' Naadaniyaan opposite Ibrahim Ali Khan which has completed filming.[17][18]

In 2024, Kapoor was placed in the "35 most influential young Indians" list by GQ.[19] In addition to acting, Kapoor is a brand ambassador for brands and products such as Sol de Janeiro and Myntra.[20][21] In 2023, she featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan India.[22]
