Shimer_College_Sox_Hop_1948.jpg (496 × 337 pixels, file size: 172 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description
English: Photograph of students dancing at a "Sox Hop" at Shimer College in 1947-1948, from the 1948 Shimer yearbook (page 51). The Sox Hop is mentioned elsewhere in the yearbook as having been sponsored by the school YWCA.

Now a liberal arts college in Chicago with a Great Books curriculum, Shimer was then a four-year women's junior college in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

Published in the school's 1948 yearbook, which does not contain a copyright notice. Additionally in the public domain due to the terms of dedication of the Shimer College Collection (which includes a copy of this yearbook) to NIU in 1979, which vested literary rights in the collection in the public.
