Description

In 1962 the MGA was replaced by the MGB, getting a redesigned lighter body and chassis giving it more space. It was also a better handling car. In England the Mk I was made from 1962-67, also assembled in Australia from 1963-72. Originally only available as a Roadster Engine; 1798cc 4 cyl with twin SUs, 1965 MGB GT Hardtop 2+2 Coupe available with hatch back 1967 Mk II got a few mechanical upgrades including a new gearbox causing the floor pan to be changed. and the 6 cyl MGC available; 145hp 2912cc Austin 1970 saw split rear bumpers with the number-plate in between 1971 saw a new front grille, recessed, in black aluminium. 1972 Mk III and the more traditional-looking polished grille returned with a black honeycomb insert. 1973 MGB GT V8 available 137hp 3528cc aluminium Rover V8

1974 A new, steel-reinforced black rubber bumper at the front incorporated the grille area and a matching rear bumper
