Desirae Krawczyk

Desirae Marie Krawczyk (English: /ˈdɛzəreɪ ˈkrævtʃɪk/ DEZ-ər-ay KRAV-chik, Polish: [ˈkraft͡ʂɨk]; born January 11, 1994)[2] is an American professional tennis player who specializes in doubles. She has a career-high doubles ranking of World No. 7, achieved on 19 August 2024, and has won eleven doubles titles on the WTA Tour, including the WTA 1000 2024 National Bank Open in Canada.

Krawczyk is a four-time Grand Slam champion in mixed doubles, having won the 2021 French and US Opens partnering Joe Salisbury, as well as the 2021 and 2022 Wimbledon Championships alongside Neal Skupski. She was also runner-up at the 2020 French Open in women's doubles, partnering Alexa Guarachi, and the pair were semifinalists at the 2021 US Open.

Early and personal life

Krawczyk is of Polish descent on her father's side, and of Filipino descent on her mother's side.[1][3]

As of 2024, she is in a relationship with Australian tennis player Andrew Harris.[4][5]

Professional career

2018: Maiden WTA doubles title and major debut

In July 2018, she won her maiden WTA Tour doubles title at the Swiss Open, partnering with Chilean Alexa Guarachi.

2020: First Grand Slam doubles final

She reached her first major final at the French Open women's doubles event, partnering Alexa Guarachi, and finished runner-up.[6]

2021: Three major titles in mixed doubles

Krawczyk won the mixed-doubles titles at the French Open (her first Grand Slam title), partnering Joe Salisbury, and at Wimbledon, partnering with Neal Skupski.[7][8][9]

Seeded second, she reached her third mixed-doubles final at the US Open, again with Salisbury.[10][11][12] They won the title, defeating Giuliana Olmos and Marcelo Arevalo in straight sets. She became the first player to win three Grand Slam mixed-doubles titles in a year, since Martina Hingis and Leander Paes in 2015.[13]

2022: Wimbledon mixed-doubles title, doubles semifinal & top 10 debut

At the Madrid Open, she reached her first WTA 1000 doubles final. Partnering with Demi Schuurs, she lost to Giuliana Olmos and Gabriela Dabrowski.[14]

At the Wimbledon Championships, she won her second consecutive title at this major in mixed doubles, partnering again with Neal Skupski, and fourth title overall.[15] At the same tournament, partnering Danielle Collins, she reached the semifinals for the third time at a major in doubles in her career.[16] She made her top 10 debut in the doubles rankings on July 11, 2022.

In October, she qualified for her second consecutive WTA Finals with Schuurs.[17][18] The pair reached the semifinals, making it the third time for Schuurs.[19]

2023: Tenth title, second WTA 1000 final, world No. 8

At the Charleston Open partnering with Danielle Collins, she won her eighth doubles title defeating top seeds Giuliana Olmos and Ena Shibahara. As a result, she reached a new career-high doubles ranking of world No. 9, on April 10, 2023.

At the Eastbourne International, partnering Schuurs, she won her tenth doubles title and fifth at the WTA 500 level.[20] She reached a new career-high ranking of No. 8 on 14 August 2023 following her second WTA 1000 final at the Canadian Open.

2024: Olympics debut, First WTA 1000 doubles title

At the Australian Open, Krawczyk was attempting to complete the career Grand Slam in mixed doubles partnering with Neal Skupski. They lost to third seeded newly formed pair and first-time mixed doubles major finalists of Jan Zielinski and Hsieh Su-wei.[21][22]

Partnering Caroline Dolehide, they reached the final of the WTA 1000 Qatar Ladies Open but lost to Luisa Stefani and former Krawczyk’s partner Schuurs.[23]

Krawczyk and Skupski made it into the mixed doubles final at the French Open but lost to the German/French pairing of Laura Siegemund and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.[24]

She won her first WTA 1000 doubles title at the Canadian Open with Dolehide, defeating Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe in the final.[25]

Dolehide and Krawczyk qualified for the end-of-season WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but they were eliminated in the group stages after losing all three of their matches.[26]
