Fair use rationale for File:A Different View.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:A Different View.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:01, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationales

[edit]

Hi. :) With respect to the images you've uploaded for the File:Politikon.png and File:A Different View.png, I'm afraid that the permission supplied to the Wikimedia Foundation at Ticket:2010121410016139 is not in itself sufficient for us to retain and display the images on En Wiki. Unless the copyright holder is willing to license the content in accordance with our licensing schemes, we also require here a valid fair use rationale supplied for each article which uses each image. Essentially, we treat these like any other non-free content. It's a good idea also to place {{Non-free with permission}} on the images, to clarify the extent of the permission. I know keeping straight the various procedures across the projects is a challenge. :) I'd add the FUR myself, but though I am also an OTRS agency, I primarily focus on text concerns. Writing FURs is not my area, I'm afraid. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:09, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The FUR look okay to me, but, as I said, images are not my area. I'm a bit concerned that En Wiki's exemption doctrine might not allow multiple logos in one article. I'll find an admin who works images more here and ask them to review to see if everything looks within our practice. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:08, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll make sure that you're kept informed. :) I've asked here. If they're okay, great. If not, I've asked what can be done to fix it. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:17, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. If these images are non-free, then they are not going to be alright to use; the logo of the organisation is fine in the article on the organisation, but the logos of the journal and the magazine (though they would be fine in an article about the journal or the magazine) are not alright in the article about the organisation. However, we are able to get around this to a certain extent; the logos are very simple, meaning they may be in the public domain. File:Politikon.png would definitely be if the IAPSS logo was cropped from it, so that it was only text (though it may be otherwise) and could be tagged with this template and this template and used freely. The ADV logo I am less sure about- I fear that the graphic of the globe is original enough to be copyrightable, and so must be considered non-free, and is therefore unusable. Sorry. J Milburn (talk) 17:46, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If we had separate articles on the different entities, each one could have the respective logos, that wouldn't be a problem. However, if they are all in one article, the logos of the publications should not be there if they are non-free. Your call. J Milburn (talk) 16:02, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for contributing the new article Gianluca Rocchi. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable, by being clearly attributed to reliable sources. Please help by adding more sources to the article you created, and/or by clarifying how the sources already given support the material (see here for how to do inline referencing). Many thanks! PS If you need any help, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. GiantSnowman 16:25, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Politikon.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Politikon.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:00, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Asso di picche requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Patchy1 11:51, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
