Fair use rationale for Image:Kieuanh.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kieuanh.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Types of Photographic Papers for use in Prosesses 05122006.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Types of Photographic Papers for use in Prosesses 05122006.jpg. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Writing paper, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Writing paper is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Writing paper, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. CSDWarnBot 06:32, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Newone. Thanks for taking time to add to these articles. Unfortunately your addition of non-english and commercial links to the articles have been reverted as they fell foul of our external links guidelines. For the most part links should provide additional encyclopedic information about the subject of the article, and non-English language links and links to pages that promote products and services are not appropriate. Thanks. Happy editing! -- SiobhanHansa 12:36, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Project talk page tagging for WP:VIET

[edit]

Blnguyen had requested me for the service of TinucherianBot to tag articles in the categories in Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam/Categories for the WikiProject Vietnam. I request the members to kindly have a look , carefully verify ALL the categories and remove all the possibly wrong categories. Please Dont misunderstand by being cautious here , as we have faced many issues with such huge scale bot tagging earlier. Once I get the final go ahead, I will start the bot with the final list. Thank you for choosing TinucherianBot for the project,. It is a pleasure working for this project...I have also left a note at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Vietnam#Project_talk_page_tagging and request your comments there. stubbing

[edit]

Please don't waste people's time by adding {{stub}} to an article such as Greeting card which is clearly not a Stub. There are plenty of other templates to add if you think the article needs improving. PamD (talk) 12:12, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it can be improved with some types of greeting cards, such as thanh you card, teacher card, new year card... the biggest anf the smallest GC, compare GC in western and estern culture. Newone (talk) 13:24, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
By all means improve it, or ask for it to be improved (eg {{expand}}), but don't label it as a stub ("A stub is an article containing only a few sentences of text which is too short to provide encyclopedic coverage of a subject, but not so short as to provide no useful information...", from WP:Stub), when it isn't one. AfD nomination of Writing paper

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Writing paper. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Writing paper. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Newone! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 5 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Hà Kiều Anh - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

FAC withdrawn

[edit]

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the Hanoi article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:02, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary please

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Universe. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. - DVdm (talk) 11:50, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Newone, I see you undid my undo with the edit summary use " " instead of " ". Still baffled about what this possible could mean, I had to load both versions into an external editor and perform a binary compare to be able to find out. Ok, I see what happened now: you replaced occurrences of double spaces with a single space. But, hah... note that browsers always reduce multiple spaces to single spaces, so it is impossible to notice any difference in the text, in the compare window, and in the edit summary. So, perhaps next time, could please write something like cleaned out sme double spaces? That would be helpful. Thanks and cheers. - DVdm (talk) 12:23, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — This, that, and the other (talk) 09:32, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Newone,

I noticed you marked an article as a stub using the {{stub}} template. Did you know that there are thousands of stub types that you can use to clarify what type of stub the article is? Properly categorizing stubs is important to the Wikipedia community because it helps various WikiProjects to identify articles that need expansion.

If you have questions about stub sorting, don't hesitate to ask! There is a wealth of stub information on the stub sorting WikiProject, and hundreds of stub sorters. Thanks!

Removing spaces in templates

[edit]

I noticed you removed a bunch of formatting spaces from the Mars article, so I just wanted to mention that doing so saves no space whatsoever. The rendered page will be exactly the same, while the old database formatting will stay in disk storage for the lifetime of the article. The only thing you accomplished is to make it a little bit more difficult for editors to check the table formatting and perform edits. Regards, RJH (talk) 15:20, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Gateway Tracing Paper Info.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gateway Tracing Paper Info.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 23:10, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of American Insurance Association

[edit]

The article American Insurance Association has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:GNG. References are mostly self-published or directory entries. Subject did bring a suit against the state of California that was eventually decided by SCOTUS, but the fact that it was a notable case does not automatically make the participants notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ubiquity (talk) 18:45, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vietnam Information Security Association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Other uses template

[edit]

Hello. The {{Other uses}} template is designed to be used on the primary topic of a title that would otherwise be ambiguous. There is no reason to include it on a page like Vantablack (EP) because it already has an ambiguator. There is already a template in use at Vantablack, and it's good enough. @DGG: I had filled some sources. Can you have a look at this again? Newone (talk) 05:19, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's going to need a little rewriting for style. I can do it easierthan I can tell you how to do it. It will take me a few days or a week.to get to it. Antarctica featured article review

[edit]

I have nominated Antarctica for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Chidgk1 (talk) 16:42, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Newone. I'm sorry to come with a negative message, especially since as far as I can recall this is our first interaction. But please stop what you're doing -- which I think(?) is finding navboxes and inserting them into articles you think they should be linked in? Instead, you're finding errors in navboxes and making bizarre edits based on them.

The most obvious example is this where you added {{Cuban musical forms}} to Dengue fever, an article about a mosquito-transmitted disease. I guess it was because that navbox had a link to "dengue" and you assumed it was referring to the same thing? It isn't. And while I know nothing about Cuban music, Googling "dengue music" brings up no genres (though one band called Dengue Fever!). A second example is {{Drugs for functional gastrointestinal disorders}} which you added to Silicone because the navbox had an entry "silicones". I searched Google and Pubmed for any indication of why "Silicones" was in that navbox and I can't figure it out. Maybe it's an error? Either way, the article "Silicone" is about silicone broadly. Having a navbox to point readers to drugs for digestive diseases doesn't make much sense, and surely falls afoul of the guidance at WP:NAVBOX for what constitutes a "good" navbox use. I haven't looked into your other edits, but since those are both recent, I'd encourage you to please stop doing this.

I've reverted the edits above. If you think I've acted in error, you're more than welcome to start discussions at the affected pages and we can hear from others. Thanks and I hope all is well. Ajpolino (talk) 22:24, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm ItsCheck. An edit that you recently made to List of most-viewed YouTube videos seemed to be a test and has been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The articles have specified that all view counts should be edited simultaneously, not individually. ItsCheck (talk) 02:21, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@ItsCheck: I had already checked data in YouTube's clip. Newone (talk) 04:00, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Newone
I am aware that you have, it's just that the page you edited must have all view counts edited together. That's just the page's guidelines and I'm not a fan of them either but it is what it is. ItsCheck (talk) 20:19, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
