TPE timetables

[edit]

I'm currently trying to find a more reliable way to get the TPE timetables… they seem to have programmed their website in a very non-archivable way Danners430 (talk) 12:52, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Look at the top right of each dynamically-generated and thus hard-to-archive timetable page, e.g. Anglo Scottish route and in the top right corner is a PDF link. I assume that's a static document and hopefully might even persist over time. Now's a good time to check that because they're still showing the up-to-December 2024 timetable. Here's the PDF link. Let's see if in a few days the same link shows the old or new timetable. 10mmsocket (talk) 13:19, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried that one too - but it appears to be a generative link rather than a link to a PDF stored on their server... I have attempted to archive it, but it only archives the first page...! Danners430 (talk) 13:20, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, had to raise a query at Help Talk:Using the Wayback Machine... their website isn't archiving at all accurately. You don't have any ideas, do you? Danners430 (talk) 13:19, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Anything relevant on here? List of Web archiving initiatives, e.g. UK Web Archive. One other thought is whether any foreign rail travel websites have copies of UK timetables, e.g. Rail Europe or Interrail? 10mmsocket (talk) 13:31, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Might have to look at that... but probably won't have time to investigate until the new year (thanks Christmas!)
In the meantime, is there a template etc. we can use to prevent IA Bot from adding an archive to that specific source? Danners430 (talk) 13:32, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's this - {{cbignore}} - I'll give it a try 10mmsocket (talk) 13:45, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Woot! User:10mmsocket/sandbox - it worked. IA Bot ignored the tagged ref but archived the non-tagged ref. 10mmsocket (talk) 13:53, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Today everyone was a winner :D
Once the ho-ho-humbugs are done for the year, I'll take a look at other options Danners430 (talk) 14:31, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
