Orphaned non-free media (Image:E3m2trigger.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:E3m2trigger.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:22, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

EFI flowchart

[edit]

I was curious what you used to make the EFI flowchart. It's very pretty. :)

thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.197.183.194 (talkcontribs)

Hi there, anonymous. That image was made with Adobe Photoshop. Just fiddle around with the layer effects, and I'm sure you'll get it right. It's not very difficult. Or in case you're talking about the simple flowchart, I made that with Adobe Illustrator. —msikma (user, talk) 20:09, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changing quotation style

[edit]

Hello there. I would like to ask you to stop editing articles just to change the quotation style. This is typically something that's not worth changing when an article already uses a certain style, similar to how you wouldn't suddenly change the spelling from British English to American English. (I'm talking about these edits: [1] [2].) —msikma (user, talk) 06:39, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this message: It was not the quotation style I changed; it was merely the glyphs. But anyway, why is it not worth changing? WP:MOS has said for at least a few months that "The exclusive use of straight quotes and apostrophes is recommended." It has never told us to exclusively use a particular variety of English. —LOL T/C 13:42, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. First of all, I'm sorry for insinuating that you were making a mistake by doing so. I've been gone from Wikipedia for a long time, and I seem to remember the rule being different at some point. (At that time there was no consensus about whether we should use curly or straight apostrophes. I was involved in it for a short while because I was helping out with the "cite web" template back then.) I didn't figure we'd ever get a consensus either. If the manual states that straight apostrophes are preferred, well, then I guess it's for the better that we use them, then. I'll roll back to your changes. Sorry to have bothered you! —msikma (user, talk) 18:51, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see you already did roll them back. Well, that's fine then. I still think it's kind of strange, since I never thought there'd ever be a consensus on such a thing. Then again, it's probably best to keep them straight and then ask the MediaWiki developers to automatically make them curly... it definitely saves a lot of hard work copying and pasting those things. —msikma (user, talk) 18:54, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay—no harm done. All I can say is: after a long absence, it's a good idea to check the MOS before messaging another user about style. ;) By the way, the two edits you pointed out weren't solely glyph changes; if you skim them from top to bottom, you may notice that I also disambiguated Doom and italicized some titles. I haven't reverted your edits prior to this message, but I guess I'll do it after. Cheers. —LOL T/C 19:23, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:FF5 trans compare.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use rationale for File:File:Megaman1610 fireman.ogg

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Mac OS 9 screenshot 2.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Mac OS 9 screenshot 2.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. moɳo 23:50, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Quake done Quick has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't seem to have any notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  狐 FOX  22:14, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
