About This User

[edit]

This user's name is Lauren Richards. She is a freshmen student at Georgia Southern University. This University is 4 hours away from Lauren's actual home, in Cumming, Georgia and she was sent here without a car so she is trapped. Lauren went to high school at West Forsyth High School, a school populated by mainly rich, unapreciative kids who all drove mustangs. Lauren did not drive a mustang in school, but was forced to deal with a small truck with no air conditioner or speedometer. Lauren likes riding horses, sleeping, eating, and hanging out with friends. She has a paint horse named Weasel and an Australian Shepherd named Possum. Lauren has been playing guitar for about 10 years and loves music, her dad played a key role in this, he also plays guitar. Some of her favorite bands/artists include but aren't limited to: Paramore, An Horse, Tegan and Sara, Against Me!, New Found Glory, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Astronautalis, John Mayer and Death Cab for Cutie. Lauren also has an appreciation for guitar legends like Van Halen, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Lauren has a father, mother, and older brother. Lauren's family is Southern Baptist, but she doesn't know what she is. Lauren's family is very country and very close. Lauren is currently single and doesn't mind. She recently got a tattoo that her parents don't know about, which shoule be interesting in a few days when she goes home to visit..... When Lauren graduates from college she either wants to be a psychologist or an audio engineer. She realizes that these things are totally unrelated to one another which is why her major is currently undeclared.

Internet Surfer

[edit]

This user is a frequent user of Facebook and Twitter. She can operate a computer, but can't tell you anything about one. She can write a paper using Microsoft Word, but that's about it, other than surfing the web, which she is a professional at. This user thinks advances in technology are great, but not when the manufacturers design them to break in a year so you are forced to upgrade, or when they make the prices ridiculous so you're the only one without an i-phone. This user is against reading books on a kindle or ibook, whatever those things are called. She doesn't understand what the big deal is and likes to be able to actually turn the pages of a book herself. The only reason why Lauren would rather have a text book for college online, rather than an actual book, is because the online version doesn't cost a million dollars.

Thoughts on Wikipedia

[edit]

Before this class, Lauren was always told by teachers that wikipedia was off limits, it "isn't a valuable resource of information." After learning more about wikipedia, Lauren realized that this assumption made by teachers isn't entirely true (and you know what they say about the word assume). Lauren now thinks that wikpedia could be at least one valuable source when researching because most of the information on wikipedia is written by credited authors, professors, etc. She realized that if you write something on a wikipedia article that isn't true, someone will be right behind you correcting your mistake, and if you write something on your wikipedia article that isn't true or not backed up by credible resources, it will be deleted. Lauren believes that some wikipedia articles are written by hobbyists, but if they have enough resources to back up their information, anyone can write a credited, proper wikipedia page.

Parles Vous Francais? (in country accent)

[edit]

This user is fluent in American English and grew up in a southern family. Watching old home videos one would think Lauren was once a hillbilly, but has grown out of her deep southern accent, thank goodness, even though a little of it is still there. She took french from first grade to her junior year in high school, but can hardly speak it all and is very suprised she could even remember how to make this heading, but can somewhat remember french when it comes to grammar.
