Sun Hill police

[edit]

It has been suggested that List of Sun Hill police on The Bill be merged into this article or section.

Could I just point out that the Police Officers that operate from this station are part of the Metropolitan Police Service no such force is called "Sun Hill Police". Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 19:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agree: comparing the two pages, it seems silly to have these separate lists of characters when they relate to the same show. Unless of course someone can explain why the division was made in the first place? Knaw 19:10, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree: I created the newer page (which I see has been deleted) because I found the original list in the article was incomplete and inconsistent. I felt there needed to be a list page with more complete information. Given that many characters don't last very long on the show (say, maybe a few months, or just a year or two), it was better to just have an all-inclusive list. It is less time-bound. I would much rather see a list of all characters grouped by rank, rather than a list grouped by "on the show" and "not on the show any more", which seems a bit moot. - Bricks J. Winzer 10:42, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I guess the discussion process is moot as the change has been made anyway. :( - Bricks J. Winzer 06:10, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

The link to Andrea Mason (PC Debbie Keane) is incorrect. It points to a different person (an Australian politician!!!).

Duplicate entry

[edit]

The entry for Daniel McPherson is duplicated.

I suggest we remove the list of current characters from this page and change the page to "Former Characters in the Bill". Steve 22:53, 13 October 2006 (UTC) (split)

I think we should leave the current characters here as well as the former ones. This is then a one-stop-shop showing all the characters from The Bill, giving easy access to all of them.

Frank Burnside

[edit]

Burnside was last seen at Sun Hill as a DCI, and he did work on several cases as DCI with Sun Hill officers, however he only ever served as DI, so therefore I think he belongs under that rank.

Former Characters - How They Went

[edit]

Currently, for all the former characters it just says something like "transfered" or "deceased". I propose more detail is given but still in a neat and uniform way. Something like for the transfer ones where they went. "Transfered to SO19", "Promoted to Sgt", or "Transfered to Greater Manchester". Any views? ( Just The Q ) 23:52, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SO19 is now defucnt due to its Specialist Operations designation has now changed to Central Operations as the Command Units changed to "Central" if you would. Watch where you put "SO19" make sure it is on old characters where SO19 was still a unit, it is now CO19. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 19:05, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Callsign intertwined with officers' names..

[edit]

Why is there the need to place the officers' callsigns with their names? The callsigns should come seperately. And if this practice is to persist then surely all the officers including those of senior rank i.e. Inspector Gold and DI Nixon should have their callsigns placed with their names. Twitter

[edit]

OK, there have been a lot of edits recently claiming that Julie Graham is to join The Bill as Louise Kennedy. These edits have been quoting Twitter as a source. Please stop quoting Twitter as a source, it does not count as a source as per WP:SPS which says "Anyone can create a website or pay to have a book published, then claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason self-published media, whether books, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, blogs, Internet forum postings, tweets, etc., are largely not acceptable". The point is absolutely anyone can set up a Twitter account and say that they're a producer from The Bill, you have no way of knowing if this is the truth hence the reason why Twitter cannot be counted as a source. I mean Kara Tointon supposedly had a Facebook account before, until it was rumbled by the BBC and then found to be 100% fake! [1] As you can see there, the prankster had over 1,000 people fooled into believing they genuinely were Kara Tointon.

For a more detailed list of links to be avoided, see WP:ELNO.

By all means, add Julie Graham to List of characters of The Bill but please only do this if it can be backed up by a source that is accepted by WP:RS and WP:ELNO. I have googled this rumour and so far can find nothing apart from Twitter stating that she is joining The Bill. Anyone adding anything other than a reliable source will have their edits reverted and may well receive a warning from whichever editor reverts the edit. Any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. I hope this makes things clearer for everyone --5 albert square (talk) 01:37, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Former Cast table

[edit]

Could someone please take a look at the table within the Former Cast section of this article. It seems fine on the preview, but once I save it it is very disorientated. Thanks, Schumi555 18:54, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Got it at the second attempt. The problem was the unclosed wikitable in section "Upcoming character changes" Keith D (talk) 19:58, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits

[edit]

OK, can we please leave the cast table as showing all cast members as 'current' at the moment. People keep changing it to September 2010, firstly there has been nothing from ITV or Talkback Thames to suggest that the drama is ending in September, only that it is ending at the end of 2010. So therefore, if the programme is not finishing until the end of 2010 then the characters should still be shown as current at the start of 2010! Secondly, how do we know that some characters won't leave before then? If characters leave before then, their last appearance won't necessarily be in the last episode.

Any questions feel free to ask here or ask me on my talk page --5 albert square (talk) 15:46, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, I agree with 5 Albert Square, that it should say 'current'. anemoneprojectors talk 22:38, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Making a separate page for character Don Beech

[edit]

I noticed that a few characters from The Bill have their own pages, and I was wondering if Don Beech could get his own page.

He is quite a notable character, having started the titular Don Beech Scandal and had a spinoff, Beech is Back.
