What was the highest revenue the Hanson Group had before it was broken up?--Jerryseinfeld 3 July 2005 15:38 (UTC)

Good question. If the break up had happened a few years later it would be possible to answer that question from an old annual report on the internet. But as it is, after googling for an answer I'm at a loss. The only ways I can think of to find out are to write to the company or to visit a library that keeps old annual reports. With its acquisition by Lehigh UK (a subsidiary of the HeidelbergCement Group), Hanson plc is now Hanson Limited. Astorrs 23:01, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hanson plc.PNG

[edit]

Image:Hanson plc.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"They also delivered value for their shareholders and swept away the complacency that had bedevilled British and American management for far too long." This is not NPV. Perhaps it should be "Hanson claimed they delivered value..." or "supporters claim they delivered value..."? Hard to say, as the citation it refers to is now a dead link. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.110.53.219 (talk) 18:28, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think we can reasonably infer it was an obituary (and hence a little suspect; not many people get reviled in their obits). I'll rewrite that sentence accordingly. Pinkbeast (talk) 10:07, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bathroom brassware

[edit]

In the 1990s Hanson purchased a bathroom brassware company. The company originally made brass electrical fittings for heavy industry (shipyards and military armoured vehicle construction), but these industries were in decline and did not provide a stable demand, hence the transition to bathroom brassware. Does anyone know the company's name? FreeFlow99 (talk) 11:14, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

@Dormskirk, Nedrutland, Cloudbound, and OlaphYellow: I propose merging Hanson Cement into Heidelberg Materials UK (formerly Hanson (company)). I think the Hanson Cement history can easily, without article size issues or skewing the content, be incorporated into the history of the latter after it began its focus on building materials (arguably it should previously have been merged into the Hanson (company) article). Paul W (talk) 12:46, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: having looked at how a merge might be done, I think that they're best kept separate, switching to the Hanson Cement article to past-tense allowing it to focus on the history from 1874 to 2007 of the former Castle Cement company. The history of Hanson UK, from 1964 to 2007, is quite distinct, but I think fits well within the Heidelberg Materials UK page. Klbrain (talk) 18:43, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Closing, given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 08:42, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
