[edit]

RSMC Nadi compiled and released Tropical Cyclone Report 97/2 on Cyclone Martin.

[1]

In the aftermath of Martin's impact on the Cook Islands, a conflict arose between trauma therapists and local deeply religious people who believed that the cyclone was caused by "the peoples departure from paths of righteous" and was thus a punishment from their God.[2]
