Etymology

[edit]

To whomever is interested I've imported here what I had written there: The Greek word Κελτοί (later Κέλτες) is a direct interpretation of either a Celtic word related to Old Irish Goidhel or to a Germanic word related to the O.H.G. Walh (most likely the first). So, meseems that the relation of Κελτοί with the Anc. Greek legendary figures of Κελτός and Κελτίνη (whose etymologies is dubious) constitutes original research. Just in case, some wikipedian gets tempted by the idea of light-heartedly associating Keltos with the Celts. Omnipedian (talk) 14:02, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
