Last Epoch is a time-travel themed, loot-based hack and slash action role-playing game developed and published by Eleventh Hour Games (EHG).

Setting

[edit]

The game is set in the world of Eterra across several timelines.[1]

Development and release

[edit]

In April 2018, a free playable demo was released as part of Last Epoch's Kickstarter drive.[2] In April 2019, the game's beta was made available via Steam Early Access.[3] In December 2019, the title's full release, originally planned for April 2020, was rescheduled to the fourth quarter of 2020.[4] In October 2020, the developers announced the cancellation of the Mac client for the game. In their announcement, they cited anticipated difficulties arising from Apple's transition to computers powered by ARM-based processors.[5] In December 2020, EHG announced that Last Epoch's release was delayed until 2021.[6]

In March 2023, a multiplayer beta was launched.[7] On February 21, 2024, the game was released to the public in three editions: Standard, Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition.[8] The launch had more than 250,000 concurrent online players.[9]

Reception

[edit]

Last Epoch's 2018 Kickstarter campaign managed to successfully reach its goal, ultimately raising over $250,000.[10]

As of March 22, 2024, it had sold 2,135,257 copies and reached 264,708 peak concurrent users on Steam.[11]
