The Okeechobee Correctional Institution is a state prison for men located in Okeechobee, Okeechobee County, Florida, owned and operated by the Florida Department of Corrections.[1]
Okeechobee has a mix of security levels, including minimum, medium, and close, and houses adult male offenders. The facility first opened in 1995 and has a maximum capacity of 1632 prisoners.
Notable inmates
[edit]- Donald Semenec (born 1975), One of several participants in the murder of Bobby Kent.[2]
- Fred Waterfield (born 1952), The cousin and accomplice of serial killer David Alan Gore. He was later transferred to Hardee Correctional Institution.[3]
- Pedro Bravo - Murdered University of Florida student Christian Aguilar in September 2012.[4][5]
