Jahmai Simpson-Pusey (born 4 November 2005) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for Premier League club Manchester City.[2]

Early life

Simpson-Pusey was born in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.[3] He had trials with multiple Premier League clubs before opting to join the youth academy at Manchester City at the age of eight years-old.[4][5]

Club career

Simpson-Pusey signed a professional contract with Manchester City in July 2023.[6] A central defender, he captained the City U18 side in the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League in 2024, winning the FA Youth Cup.[7] That summer, he was selected to travel with the first-team on their pre-season tour and featured in matches against AC Milan and Celtic.[8]

Simpson-Pusey made his professional debut on 30 October 2024 appearing as a second half substitute for Manchester City in their 2–1 loss in the EFL Cup away at Tottenham Hotspur.[9] Six days later, he was given his first start and made his UEFA Champions League debut in a 4–1 away loss against Sporting CP.[8][10] On 9 November 2024 he made his first Premier League appearance starting in a defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.[11]

In March 2023 Simpson-Pusey represented England under-18.[12]
