Der Stein wurde gegenüber seiner ursprünglichen Lange in römischer Zeit um 90 Grad gekippt und diente an seinem neuen Ort als Abstandshalter zum Schutz des Eckhauses vor zu eng abbiegenden Pferdewagen. Die Einkerbungen waren Verankerungsrinnen für Holzteile.
