Summary

Description

The prototype ANITA electronic calculator of 1958, with some of the covers removed to reveal components inside, on display in the Science Museum, London, United Kingdom. The mirror mounted behind the calculator allows the rear circuit board to be seen, with its vacuum tubes (grey) and capacitors (yellow).

This is a "full-keyboard" machine, similar to the mechanical "Comptometer" calculators of the time. Each decade of the display has a column of keys from 1 to 9 (0 is the default). The full-keyboard is very fast in operation since a trained operator could use the fingers of both hands to enter a complete number in one move. The calculator logic was designed to cope with this.

If you want to see this machine in the Science Museum you are advised to contact the museum beforehand to confirm that it is still on display.
