The classical period dates from around 2,000 to 1,000 b2k.

Top are "pre-Columbian wall paintings which can be found in the Temple of the Warriors, Chichen Itza, on the east coast of Mexico. The first [on the left] depicts prisoners after their capture by the dark-skinned natives, and the second [on the right], shows a man with long blond hair being sacrificed."[1]
