WikiCup

[edit]

Hi- as I know we've fratched over the WikiCup before, I thought you may be interested in a comment I left on another user's talk page. Any thoughts you have on the matter are appreciated. Feel free to ignore if not! J Milburn (talk) 23:21, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to take a look at it, but not that Wiki active. I didn't think we scrapped. WikiCup was just a natural thing that my segueing analytical interest wandered to. I thought you all kinda came out OK in the analysis I ran. In any case, it's a program and running well and for a while and mostly to your credit.
Was actually thinking of you all and even entering the thing (then winning it, hoisting the Cup over my head, running a victory lap around your computer while doing a Gastineau sack dance).  ;-P
Hope you are taking care of IRL things. See ya round, man.
TCO (talk) 02:24, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I skimmed it. First thank you for thinking of me. Second, your changes are very impressive. Hope they work well for your program and that your players enjoy the competition and the creative work. I'm sure they will benefit the readers.TCO (talk) 02:37, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks; hopefully the WikiCup will continue to develop further in that regard. If you want to join us next year, you'd be more than welcome- it's a lot of fun, and certainly something I'm proud to be a part of. Also pleasantly drama-free, as the majority of people who take part are not exactly drama lovers. J Milburn (talk) 17:17, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

TCO, I saw your post on a user page. I've made statements on Wikpediocracy (in the Governance thread, "Down with ____", which hasn't been renamed, despite my efforts). In particular, I wrote that I don't want an apology and am happy with no contact.

However, the massive logs have to be dealt with.

It's been a scandal when politicians have made "jokes" like "if you cannot rape your wife, who can you rape?" and last summer's "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down". Such persons are not the Republican spokespersons, representing the Republican Party to the world. In fact, they have been quickly removed from their public positions, but allowed to serve in other capacities.

Such a change can only be good for the individuals and the organizations. The individuals have time to focus on needed change and a rest from public conflict.

Hi Stifle: You marked Gymnastics Examiner as approved on 03 MAR, but it is still not working. Also a user went and archived it. Help?

TCO (talk) 01:45, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Approved means that it has been authorized for whitelisting, which is one of the steps on the way to being whitelisted. Only when it is marked "done" or "added" is it possible to add it onto an article. I understand one of my colleagues has now marked this "done". Stifle (talk) 19:17, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gary Morgan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Final Countdown (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hi TCO, did you see the talk page, I'd be cautious about removing the EXT, would you consider undoing [1] ? (the portal can go of course) Widefox; talk 17:02, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, I didn't know there was some agreement to have two (?) copies of the link. I know there is some kerfuffle about linking in general. But I was just being a good content writer and eliminating a duplication, like I would on any article. If you want to stick it back, go ahead. (I'm not on some mission to hide the link or promote it. I will just take it as more cruftiness.)  ;-) TCO (talk) 17:09, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, appreciate the duplication argument and no explicit agreement on two links. Most of the articles I see have them duplicated (arguably the infoboxes have grown too large according to WP:Wikipedia_Signpost/2013-07-10/Dispatch). If you don't feel like doing it, I may do it....not in any rush to mind.... :) Widefox; talk 14:14, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To TCO, for comments at RfA. Axl ¤ [Talk] 09:13, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am dismayed to see the rebuttal to your recent RfA !vote. This sort of harrassment has become a growing trend at RfA. I agree with you that article creation puts admins in a better position to determine CSD and AfD eligibility, although I don't place as much emphasis as you do. It looks like the RfA is going to pass, but that does not diminish the importance of opposition !votes—indeed minority views need to be aired and your reasoning is certainly valid. Best wishes. Thanks. I see in there my oft-repeated promise of more mainspace, but I thought (maybe I misread) that I had committed to undertake a particular piece of content work—if so I don't see it in that thread. Incidentally, although I am continually being drawn back into arbitration cases and other administratorish things, I have been trying to do more mainspace this year, including creating several articles about some Supreme Court cases, some of which are in good shape now and others of which need polishing. More to come, I certainly hope. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 15:37, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Isabel Maxwell has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No allegation of notability other than through her father. Please see WP:NOTINHERITED.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A horse of another color

[edit]

I've asked the other peer reviewers on the Chincoteague article to weigh in at the FAC, please feel free to, but I have a different project for you if you are minded to do this. It is Franklin Peale, I'm concerned that I may not be accurately giving the reader the technical stuff that attends his trip to Europe and the aftermath. Peale was quite a character, I've been waiting to do his article for a while. I wonder what made him turn to the dark side, after all, he had just married a Girard and didn't need the money I suppose.--Wehwalt (talk) 15:23, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I want you to know fluorine has finally become a FA. I believe you'll never read this and thus never find this out (I would be glad to be wrong), but I still think you need to be informed. Adding New clause to WP:GYMNAST

[edit]

Do you support this additional prong for notability. I'm trying to make gymnastics notibility more inclusive while still holding to high standards. I had an idea to make a country specific prong, to include more gymnasts from countries where gymnastics is popular

  1. Has won an individual medal at the senior national championships or gold medal at the junior national championships for any of the following countries: USA, Russia, China, Romania, Japan, Ukraine.

Japan and Ukraine are mainly in there for mens gymnastics, but they also have the benefit of having some great female gymnasts too. Like Murakami Mai, who I believe was ripped off at the 2013 WC floor event finals. Her routine was magical. Are there any countries you would add or take away? They would have to be reasonably good at men's and women's gymnastics. In a few years I could see adding Great Britain to the list but perhaps its a bit too early to make a judgement on them MATThematical (talk) 17:33, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of A Sense of Honor

[edit]

The article A Sense of Honor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article is a single sentence with one reference. There's no indication of notability for this specific work. There's no need for this to be it's own page; it should be re-directed back to the author's page.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
