Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Spiggotr6. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Ned Bittinger, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:58, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- @DoubleGrazing: I do not have any relation to Mr. Bittinger. The things that had previously been in Draft:Ned Bittinger were found from what I now realize to be unreliable sources. At the time I had not sourced them properly and have since removed and added new and more reliable sources. I know there were some things like the Subject's birthday that went uncited. I had previously found that from his social media account. Any and all uncited or unreliable material has been removed from the draft. Thanks. Spiggotr6 (talk) 06:47, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
Ned Bittinger moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Ned Bittinger, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. AfC notification: Draft:Ned Bittinger has a new comment
[edit]The article Ned Bittinger has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Promotional article, does not meet WP:ANYBIO
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MrsSnoozyTurtle 08:30, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

- @DoubleGrazing: I had a look at the copywritten parts of the article, most of them were just lists of names that I have now rearranged. I double checked to make sure the article is not copied from any more sources. Thanks Spiggotr6 (talk) 21:17, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Beth P. Gesner. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:05, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

[edit]The "too much in the lede" comments in the Ned draft are from very experienced editors. Consider readers coming to the article - is a 'sea of blue' Wikilinks of value, or are the they just going to skip over? David notMD (talk) 13:02, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
- @David notMD I moved one of the lists to "collections" and completely removed the other. Let me know what you think. Hopefully that looks better to you. Spiggotr6 (talk) 18:19, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
- It's still a 'sea of blue' that adds nothing to establishing his notability. Similarly, for a science researcher, listing articles published in journals adds nothing.Instead, a section might just have a short list of selected publications, or in your draft's instance, selected portraits. David notMD (talk) 00:20, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- The article Portrait painting has links to 20th century artists in this arena. Consider those articles as guides. David notMD (talk) 00:22, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Just so I am clear, are you talking about the same list of the institutions that now appears in collections? If so, does the lede look fine to you? Spiggotr6 (talk) 00:48, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- @David notMD Spiggotr6 (talk) 00:48, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Lede much better, and I see you trimmed Collections. There is still some duplication between Collections and Notable commissions. And Books... has a sea of blue in the second paragraph. See what the next reviewer thinks. Me, I'm a biocemist with only a smattering of interest in art, none in portraiture. David notMD (talk) 00:58, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
