Message from WikiProject Media franchises unofficial coordinator

[edit]

Dear Sykko...I am so happy that you are willing to help WikiProject Media franchises. I am still reaching out to other WikiProjects to see if we can get some more interest, so I would like to depend on you and the others to do things like get articles assessed and find other articles which might need our attention by placing {{WikiProject Media franchises}} on their talk pages. Another thing is to start using {{Infobox Media franchises}} on franchise articles. I trust you to use your best judgment, and if you haven't already done so, you can add {{User WikiProject Media franchises}} to your user page or dedicated user box page. When enough people have that, or WikiProject Media franchises participants on the user pages, I will start that category. You could also add your name to our participants list.

I may not be the best coordinator around, but I am doing my best. I hope that you approve. LA (If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page.) @ 20:01, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I have enjoyed helping and it has really helped keep me from kinda giving up on wikipedia because since I cleared out everything for myself I ended up having nothing to do lool. I will add the ubx as a part of a "Projects I am helping out with" section of my userboxes :) -Sykko-(talk to me) 23:45, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I think you are doing a great job :) -Sykko-(talk to me) 23:47, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

talkarchivehist

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you created Talk:Generation Y/Archive3 a few days ago, using {{talkarchivehist}}. Thanks for trying it out. Unfortunately, the links do not work if the required parameters are not included. I added the parameters. Flatscan (talk) 23:40, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately I am not longer interested in that article in any way. I appreciate your help in fixing my mistake. I will try to do more research next time when trying to archive a talk page. Thanks for the advice! -Sykko-(talk to me) 04:54, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Media Franchises template

[edit]

Thanks for your note, and of course I'm happy to do what you ask. Could I ask you to give me a link to the assessment criteria? I've never assessed articles in that way, and I would feel a lot better about it if I could look at the gradations to get a feeling for the differences between one level and another. I'm not sure how many articles I'll be tagging in the future, but I'm happy to help you by assessing as long as I'm sure I know how (in other words, so I'm sure I'm not wasting your time by making you re-assess/re-tag them, as I think happened the other day). Thanks in advance for your extra trouble; I know I'll be more useful to you with the rules in hand. Accounting4Taste:talk 14:10, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

sure no problem, I'll go find them now and I'll post a link on your talk page -Sykko-(talk to me) 15:30, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't leave Media franchises

[edit]

Dear Sykko, please don't leave media franchises just yet. We still need you, and you are one of three active members. Just because you didn't get the help you requested in one day doesn't mean that you should give up. I suggest that you reach out to each person who is participating in any of the discussions personally by leaving messages on their talk pages. It is way to "noisy" on the project's talk page right now that they might not have seen it or read it.

I am still working on the nuts and bolts of the project. You provided such a relief to me by taking up the assessments. I hope you come back to us. LA (If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page.) @ 23:41, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, but the truth is I am not all that interested in wikiprojects right now. I got too burned out by trying to get involved in a little of everything as I was learning about wikipedia and hit a rather depressing overload. I was kinda helping out to pass the time, that is why I put my name in the sympathizers section, because ya caught me on the very day that I dumped all my projects. All in all it just isn't really something I want to get into right now anyway and they made good points. who the heck bothers with assessments anyway? I don't plan to get involved enough to benefit from them myself so I don't have a leg to stand on. For now, in order for me to keep my spirits up about being involved at all on this site I need to stay out of drama and jaded editors and so it just makes more sense for me to go back to where I was, light editing without structure. -Sykko-(talk to me) 01:31, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just improved the article so it won't merge into Daihatsu Move. Teddy.Coughlin (talk) 16:15, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are still missing
  • Citations for verification
  • There really isnt any notability asserted
  • It lacks enough content to really warrant a whole article.
  • If the actual article were huge and having the latte as a seperate article this would be a good reason for it.

I blocked you. Teddy.Coughlin (talk) 18:30, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

you have to be an administrator to block people. pretending to be one is bad etiquette in general. wikiquette or not.
so let me ask you this. do you think perhaps that we could figure out some sort of resolution between the 2 of us on this issue? I have already explained what it is you need to find, and if you are having problems figuring out what resources you need in order to find them I am more than willing to help you out with that. Try things like google news for references maybe car magazine sites that mention the specific trim of the vehicle and what makes it notable. If you can find publications that show that the trim level is notable enough that it stands on it's own as a notable subject then I have no problem with leaving the subject up
The reason I am being so stubborn with this tagging thing is because I went through the proper process for a merge, no discussion... then you just reverted without discussion... now you are removing tags... once again... without discussions or addressing what the tags are being added for.
I am sorry if somehow you think that I am picking on you, but I honestly believe that the article would fail an AfD if it weren't for the fact that I am currently in the middle of this dispute with you and it would make me look like I am violating wp:point also I feel that the result would be a merge. -Sykko-(talk to me) 00:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please return to WikProject Media franchises

[edit]

Dear Sykko...You are invited to come back to discuss WikiProject Media franchises. Since you participated in one or more discussions of the project, possibly when it was known as WikiProject Fictional series, I hope to see you return to it. The project needs your participation. Currently there is no activity on the project's talk page about the reorganization which is discouraging. I had great expectations for this project as it touches so many topics but am becoming discouraged. I hope to see you return. LA (If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page.) @ 19:40, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

sorry, I just cant groove out to it. -Sykko-(talk to me) 01:23, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Editor review.

[edit]

Hi,

A couple of months ago you left a message on my talk page. In it, you said you will complete my editor review. It's now been two monts and still no review. Are you still planning to do it? --OZOO (Someone review me... please!) 21:12, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but nope. there are a couple of reasons. The first is I have separated myself from all my past interests on here on wikipedia. The next is because I dont have enough time to keep track of what few wikipedia interests that I have left. Sorry for breaking my promise but I just am not as willing to be here as I used to be. -Sykko-(talk to me) 03:00, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK then. --OZOO (Someone review me... please!) 10:11, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops

[edit]

I just reviewed the history of the split-level home page. I was going through recent changes and I looked at the talk page and was under the impression that someone had removed all the little tags and made a big paragraph complaining about them. I did not realize the context of this since I did not pay attention. I do now see that it was the rediculous citation-needed tags that was the vandalism. You are free to revert my edit. Please forgive me, I was tired and just woke-up when I made that edit. Cheers! --Reubzz (talk) 19:48, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

no worries ;) I figured it was something like that -Sykko-(talk to me) 01:20, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing the Rocoto article

[edit]

It's always nice when there's somebody who's recently been involved when issues arise. As it happens, I was just about to publish a completely different article on "Manzana", when it occurred there was already an article under a different name. Have a look at[1]. Cheers, Piano non troppo (talk) 15:26, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Math problem

[edit]

(I mean the math problem on your userpage.) Let's see here: you have 3x+2y=y/3*3x. After a few steps:

3x+2y=y/3*3x
3x+2y=xy
xy-3x-2y=0
xy-3x-2y+6=6
(x-2)(y-3)=6

Now x and y can be anything that satisfies this equation, such as (3,9), or (8,4). So your only solution of (5,5) is not the only solution. MC10 (TCGBL) 05:17, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can also pretty easily just solve for y and see that the function is not equivalent to y=x (which is what would have to happen if all of the solutions involved x and y being equal):
3x+2y=y/3*3x
3x+2y=xy
3x=xy-2y
3x=y(x-2)
y=3x/(x-2)
So, the graph is not linear and has an asymptote at x=2 and y=3. Solutions include: (-1,1), (-4,2), (8,4), (5,5), (4,6), etc. SnottyWong babble 22:54, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! pretty good... I hadn't found any of that, but I figured there was something... great work and thanks :) -Sykko-(talk to me) 19:39, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
to you both...
The E=mc² Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to you because you figured out the flaw in my math problem. While it wasnt work on an article I think this barnstar fits best. thanks MC10 and Snottywong -Sykko-(talk to me) 19:44, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Retiring

[edit]

I actually left Wikipedia a long while back, a slow decline that just ended in me not coming back. From time to time I have made an edit or two, usually not bothering to log in since I wasn't concerned about my account. I happened to notice the recent MfD above and realized some of the reasons I got so burnt out. Instead of what was sort of an indefinite wikibreak I think it's better if I just cut my ties and log out for the last time. I really enjoyed working with the people I got to know, and was proud to have contributed, but the social structure just isn't for me. No need to leave any messages about past project involvement, and any XfD's may consider my opinion to be delete thanks all :) -Sykko-(talk to me) 05:40, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi Sykko,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
