Roar Shirt Sponsorship

[edit]

Took the Puma stuff out of the "Crest and Colours" section as it probably only needs to be mentioned once and IMO the most relevent spot is in the Sponsorship section with the other sponsor information/table - Ck786 (talk) 00:45, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be listed in the crest and colours section because the colours of the kit have changed, hence the "crest and COULOURs". There hasn't been a change in sponsorship for the team, just a new kit maker, which falls under the crest and colours. Protenpinner (talk) 08:48, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Most other club wiki pages have it under sponsorship, as that's what they are, Puma pay the club to manufacture the shirts (and then take a cut of the sales)... So what I've done made the Crest & Colours section its own section, renamed the 'Sponsorship' section to 'Shirt sponsors and manufacturers' and made it as a sub-section of Crest and Colours. I think it makes it all a whole lot more clearer. Ck786 (talk) 03:32, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Undo-ing edits

[edit]

Would be greatly appreciated if you were to discuss undoing other peoples changes - especially when they are obviously significant changes and have clearly taken some time to do - before simply reverting them because they do not suit you. The changes I made to Brisbane Roar yesterday were modelled around "FA-Class football articles" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:FA-Class_football_articles) rated football pages such as Manchester United, Arsenal F.C, etc, etc. I do not see why if the changes I made are good for these top quality articles that you do not see them as a suitable change to increase the quality of the Brisbane Roar article... Even still, it is just common courtesy to talk to someone about it before simply reverting their changes. Ck786 (talk) 21:25, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, see Manchester United F.C.#Grounds and Real Madrid C.F#Grounds for use of the Stadium infobox. I think it adds something, maybe not as big as I had it initially, but certainly a cut-down version Ck786 (talk) 21:43, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The info thing about Suncorp isn't needed. Yes, the club play there but there is no reason to have it on the page. It's about the Roar, not Suncorp Stadium. All I see fit is that there should be a link to Suncorp Stadium's page, nothing more as it distracts from the Brisbane Roar page itself. I apologise for not coming to you first but there is absolutely no reason to put more relevance to something that is low in significance to other things about the club. Protenpinner (talk) 07:04, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
See that's what I dont get, why is it relevent in top quality articles like Man Utd and Real Madrid, but is not relevent here? I think it should be included but perhaps be made more specific to the Roar. Thoughts?? And the other changes I made - rearranging sections, etc - you changed back as well... Again, the changes I made were just reflective of other top quality club football pages in an attempt in increase the quality of this page. Ck786 (talk) 08:48, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What I mean by not being relevant, is both Man United and Real Madrid both have stadiums that only house those teams. The Roar play at one that is rented that also houses the Broncos, QLD Reds, State of Origin and more. If Suncorp Stadium was solely the Roar's home ground, and not used by another club in a different code, then I'd be fine with it. And as for the other sections, The colours and crest section should be under history as it's the history of what the club has worn.Protenpinner (talk) 18:21, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Penrith Panthers Violence Against Women jersey 2011.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Penrith Panthers Violence Against Women jersey 2011.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Something to make your life easier!

[edit]

Hi there Protenpinner! I've just come across one of your articles, and noticed that you had to create titles for your url links manually, or were using bare urls as references.

You might want to consider using this tool - it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script on Special:MyPage/common.js, or or Special:MyPage/vector.js, then paste the bare url (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. Happy editing! Etiquette

[edit]

I just wanted to point out, away from the Brisbane Roar talk page, that the link you requested of me in our discussion there was included as a citation in the edit that you reverted. If (as it appears) you've reverted my edit on the basis of fact without taking the time to check the reference I provided, I consider this to be poor etiquette. If I've misconstrued, then I apologise. Aspirex (talk) 10:10, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I apologise if that is the way it seems, but that was not my intention. I remember reading in an article that it included netball teams and something to do with cricket as well. I wrongly (and stupdily) reverted the edit first and went looking for the link, but got sidetracked and forgot to edit it. I sincerely apologise though for not changing it back. I still stand firm about he removal of the Newcastle bit though as it was significant part of the season and should have remained. I will go back and change it back to the way you changed :). Kluivert

[edit]

He used to be listed on the Club website and he hasn't been involved with the club since he left after the two-week coaching stint and is now the FC Twente Youth Team coach. I cannot find anything supporting that he was there in an honorary capacity, but if you feel that it is still relevent (which I disagree) then maybe rename the Affiliated Clubs section to Affiliations and including him in there. He's certainly not a member of the staff and shouldn't be on that list. IMO. Ck786 (talk) 12:44, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free. I borrowed the idea from Aston Villa's page (which featured the cup comps) and modified the layout a bit to match domestic comps. Haha we were played off the park in the first half. Besart Berisha

[edit]

Please have a look at the bottom of his infobox. It says there: Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of 4 May 2014. 'Senior club appearances' means domestic league only – no cups, no continental matches, no friendlies. According to Soccerway, Berisha has 76 appearances and 48 goals for Brisbane Roar, so please stop putting false information in the infobox. --Jaellee (talk) 18:39, 4 August 2014 (UTC) According to kicker.de he played 12 matches and scored one goal in the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV and had an additional two appearances and one goal in the UEFA Champions League so I don't understand what your comment with regard to Hamburg means. --Jaellee (talk) 18:46, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's not false information though, it's factual AND accurate. He played in total (including Asian Champions League games) 83 games for Brisbane, scoring 50 times so I fail to see how it is false information. Protenpinner (talk) 19:23, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The AFC Champions League is not a domestic league, it is a continental competition, like the UEFA Champions League in Europe and the Copa Libertadores in South America. The participants come from all over the confederation and the winner of the AFC Champions League is considered the "best" team of the whole Asian Football Confederation not just the best of one nation.
Domestic competitions are described here: Association football#Domestic competitions. Basically a domestic league has participants from one country only (in some cases more than one, but never from a whole Confederation). The winner is considered the best team of the country that organizes the league. Examples are the Premier League (England), Primera División (Spain), Bundesliga (Germany).
The infobox lists only the appearances and goals of domestic leagues which means no continental competition appearances (not domestic) and no national cup appearances (domestic, but no league). Whether infoboxes should include other stats is discussed from time to time at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football, but up to now the status quo was kept because it is difficult to get information about cups and continental competitions for players from earlier times.
So in the case of Besart Berisha, he played 76 appearances and 48 goals for Brisbane Roar in the A-League which is the domestic league in which Brisbane takes part. Also for the other clubs only the respective apps and goals in the league are listed in the infobox. --Jaellee (talk) 20:06, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
