With regards to your comments on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Eurasian Coot.jpg, I was wondering if you would reconsider. The EV of the shot is not to duplicate the taxobox image (also a nice shot), the job of which is to convey the overall sense of what the bird looks like, but to illustrate other aspects of the birds' biology, in this case the foraging behaviour. In a similar fashion I could have used a different shot of an antbird in the feeding section of that article, but this shot, while oddly positioning the bird, actually shows the gymnastics of a bird hunting in vegetation. I guess that my point is that from the point of view of someone who writes and illustrates birds articles the EV is most certainly there. Sabine's Sunbird talk 03:06, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
