Copyright info for Twin Lakes Library System article

[edit]

Hello -- I was given the okay to post that history by LaToya Davidson, the Assistant Director of the Twin Lakes Library System. I can make some sort of comment on the article to say that (as I did on the image that was used, that permission was given by the artist). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zorn2006 (talkcontribs) 21:30, 1 December 2006.

[edit]

I submitted a revised version without the history. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zorn2006 (talkcontribs) 22:05, 1 December 2006.

[edit]

I have to say, I forgot about this image. I uploaded it around the time I first started out at Wikipedia, and was not completely sure of the rules and regulations. As I can see now, it fails all basic standards for images. So it's probably best to have it removed, as it is copyrighted. Kaiser matias 09:29, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Open Air Stereo

[edit]

Hello, I read the Open Air Stereo article because I had a hunch it would be ridiculous, and boy was I right. I've done substantial rewriting and now I think it at least approaches neutrality, though sourcing is still an obvious problem, and I'm not sure all the quotes are necessary. As such, I removed the inappropriate tone tag. I am not claiming final authority here, far from it, I just ask that you read my changes and let me know, here or on my own talk page, if you think I've done enough editing to warrant removal of the tone tag. Thanks! --Tractorkingsfan 12:06, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I went even further, getting rid of must of the fluffy quotations and shortening the article to the provable essentials. I think it is in better shape now, hopefully you agree. --Tractorkingsfan 13:41, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Image:777.jpg Sure, go ahead and delete this image. Back in the ancient of days I replaced the 10 copyrighted and unsourced images of this guy with this one, which at least had a source and by line of some kind. But I'm not interested in the article or the image. Zeimusu | Talk page 14:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Creative Commons question

[edit]

I found a few (admittedly crappy) photos of Cam Ward in Creative Commons. The search criteria I used was "I want to use images in other works." but not "I want to use this image commercially." Is this compatiable with GDFL? --Wafulz 15:28, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's with everyone throwing this "failed first rule" template around like candy? If you look on the image page, you will see that I had written that there is no free alternative - NHLPA does not have a pic of him up yet The strokes 23:15, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I have been trying to make the submission like an article from an encyclopedia, so perhaps you can edit it to take out any promotions if you see any.

The LongIsland.com and Long Island Exchange articles are both clearly promoting a product or service too if the Long Island Economy article cannot be included as well. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Longislandeconomy (talkcontribs) 18:22, 5 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

What images to use in user space

[edit]

Hello, you recently pointed out that the "Bender.jpg" image I'm using on my user site is an "Fair use" image which is not allowed in user space. Actually, I didn't put that image there: originally, I used a different image which was a screenshot I took from the series, so that one most probably was indeed a breach of copyright, but that image had been replaced with the current one by some bot, so I was under the impression that this action happend to actually fix this copyright issue...

Do you have any suggestions what kind of image I can use? I'd like to have a bender image on my user site. Maybe it is allowed to simple take the same picture which is used in Bender's wikipedia article?

Thanks for suggestions,

Twin Lakes Library System

[edit]

The TLLS website has now posted the following: I, LaToya Davidson, am the author of this article, History of the Twin Lakes Library System, and I irrevocably release its contents under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, 1.2 and later, for use on Wikipedia and elsewhere. So I added that back to the TLLS Wikipedia entry. When will it be out of its suspended status? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zorn2006 (talkcontribs) 13:31, 6 December 2006.

Re: John Madden (jurist)

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you reverted my change to the page John Madden (jurist) here. My edit summary might have been confusing or misleading, but I made the change to help distinguish the intended links to the disambiguation page from the accidental ones. According to Wikipedia:Disambiguation, "To link to a disambiguation page (instead of a specific meaning), link to the redirect to the disambiguation page that includes the text "(disambiguation)" in the title (such as, America (disambiguation)). This helps distinguish accidental links to the disambiguation page from intentional ones." I have changed it back. Please let me know if this is a problem. Thanks. Khatru2 08:45, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I hadn't noticed that section in the page before. You're right about the edit summary, maybe something like "clarify intention to link to the actual disambiguation page"? --bainer (talk) 11:34, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Perarasu

[edit]

I read this wikipage Perarasu, and it was utter nonsense. It should not be listed in Wikipedia. I have placed speedy deletion tag. But I don't know how to delete it for sure. I beg your help in deleting that page. If you are from Tamil nadu, you may know why I ask you to do so after reading that page. Please also ensure you add those IPs in blocked list also. Thanks. Jim Criner

[edit]

Hello,

"Jim Criner" ended up on my watchlist because I sometimes browse randomly and tidy up English, etc. Somebody called "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/71.202.152.38" just edited Jim Criner but has no talk page. I had made a comment (on the comment page for Criner) that one display item, near the bottom, is illegible to colour-blind persons. If you know how to fix it to more legible colours please do so - I have tried but cannot find out what generates the colours. Happy New Year Carrionluggage 15:54, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but I later realised that it is probably team colours and ought not to be changed. Carrionluggage 03:51, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please suggest an image that would be appropriate. Pepso 09:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. But what would be your choice for such an image? Pepso 09:43, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I found a file in the Commons. Pepso 10:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion is sought about the Frank Caliendo article

An anonymous editor keeps adding what is in my opinion, extremely trivial information to the Frank Caliendo article. I am soliciting the opinion of other editors who have edited this article about the appropriateness of this "information" to the article. Please review the details at Talk:Frank Caliendo#Consensus about inclusion of specific football predictions and if you desire, add your thoughts to this section. Thanks...but one question

[edit]

Thanks for correcting my userboxes, but I have one question. Is there any way I can place an image in my userbox and it not be a fair-use image? It looks 100 times better with an image in a userbox! Thanks!

Problem with {{Infobox U.S. County}} template
Hi. Could you please fix the {{Infobox U.S. County}} template so that the articles about Georgia counties point to Georgia (U.S. state) instead of just "Georgia"? Thanks. Khatru2 07:40, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Carmelo Anthony neutrality

[edit]

Hey, I did some work on cleaning up the POV issues on the Carmelo Anthony page. You put the POV tab on there so I figured you might want to check it over and tell me what work still needs to be done. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mykll42 (talkcontribs) 20:57, 26 February 2007.

Not adding the template to the uploader's page.

[edit]

The instructions for adding the {{fair use replace}} tag include adding this {{subst:replaceable|Joseph L. Bruno.jpg}} text to the talk page of the uploader.

This was not done for the Joseph L. Bruno image for which I am the uploader. I have only learned of this because someone else updated the tag and added the text to my talk page as instructed.

This is unfortunate for all the other images which you have added {{fair use replace}} and did not notify the uploader -- these images or their equivalent will be potentially lost to the Wikipedia.

Please consider returning to each image you have added {{fair use replace}} and providing to the uploader the notice as the tag instructs you to do. patsw 18:30, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citty

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Citty, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Thanks I have not seen that text before; what exactly is the point of linking to [[Georgia (disambiguation)|Georgia]] though? Why wouldn't the link just read [[Georgia (disambiguation)]]? To be honest, the entire notion is perplexing to me. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 05:32, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Typo redirect Boutwell, albert

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Boutwell, albert, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Boutwell, albert is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Boutwell, albert, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
