The Hopkins Review

[edit]

Your nomination at Articles for Creation was a success, and The Hopkins Review was created. Please continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. Thank you for helping Wikipedia! MSGJ (talk) 20:57, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please check the Conflict of Interest guidelines

[edit]

Hi WorldShakespeareBibliography and Jhup (I'm posting this message to both your user talk pages),

From your usernames I'm going to go ahead and assume you're affiliated with the World Shakespeare Bibliography and the Johns Hopkins University Press. Please be aware that Wikipedia has a rather strict Conflict of Interest policy. Note that this does not mean you cannot at all edit in articles related to your COI, but you will be held to a much higher standard. Please read the Conflict of Interest policy, strongly consider whether to declare any Conflict of Interest you may have related to articles you have or wish to contribute to, and use the article talk pages to discuss any changes (that do not fall under the very few exemptions listed in the COI policy) that you wish to see made.

I'm posting you this message because I came across the article World Shakespeare Bibliography which, to be somewhat diplomatic, skirts the boundary to advertising / self-promotion; and is problematic under several of Wikipedia's core content policies (Neutral Point of View, Verifiability, and No Original Research). The article aptly illustrates why Wikipedia has a Conflict of Interest policy: its perspective is that of someone with an interest in promoting the WSB (and even the WSB's editor), and not a neutral and encyclopedic treatment of the subject. I'm sure this was not the intent, but the result is the same. In order to illustrate the problems I've tagged various statements in the article as needing references to a reliable secondary source.

I'd be happy to work with you to attempt to address these problems and improve the article so it is in compliance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you, and please feel free to contact me on my talk page—or even using the email link if you for some reason need to keep the communication confidential—if you have any questions or need assistance. --Xover (talk) 17:49, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Journal of Late Antiquity has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
Journal of Late Antiquitynews, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
