Better source request for File:Michelle Branch - Breathe.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:21, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of songs banned by the BBC, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Telegraph (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. Would you care to comment at this talk page regarding a silly spat over genre warring? It's silly, but it has been said that discussions can cure genre warrior's symptoms LOL. Dan56 (talk) 06:52, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Bruno Mars Treasure.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bruno Mars Treasure.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 05:18, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reference breaking

[edit]

Please be more careful to preserve references when you restructure articles. When I look at the history of Jay-Z discography, I can see that Anomie-bot had to come in three separate times to repair references you had damaged. Anomie-bot is reasonably reliable, but makes mistakes, too. When you cut a reference definition, you need to look and make certain that the same reference isn't being used elsewhere in the article.—Kww(talk) 20:11, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry 'bout that. Will be more careful next time. Holiday56 (talk) 02:57, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Beatles B-sides

[edit]

Nice work on The Beatles discography – their ferociously complicated album release schedule certainly required patience to redevelop. However, surely the B-sides shouldn't be listed in the same table as the singles? Many of their song articles list the various B-sides as being singles, which they are of course not in their own right (the A-side is the "single" and the B-side is just an accompanying song by definition, the modern equivalent being something like this): many of the B-sides did chart, but that was largely down to heavy airplay in the US following the success of the A-sides. Unless a B-side was later released as an A-side (i.e. "If I Fell" or "I Should Have Known Better") then it should surely be relegated to an "Other charted songs" section or similar, or removed completely if it didn't chart at all. I Am RufusConversation is a beautiful thing. 11:22, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Spongebob soundtrack.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Spongebob soundtrack.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:06, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited John Mayer discography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Clarity (song) (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Country Feedback REM.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Country Feedback REM.jpg.

Thank you. Werieth (talk) 19:50, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pound Cake

[edit]

Hey Holiday56, I noticed you added that "Pound Cake" was serviced to radio in the UK, so does that make "Pound Cake" Nothing Was the Same's third/fourth single? And how would we treat the infobox, and its placement on discographies since it is a track with two songs, but only "Pound Cake" was sent to radio? STATic message me! 16:11, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that, if you would have not be checking the UK radio release dates I would have never known. I already added it to the singles in their respective navboxes, and to the singles section and infobox on the album article. I was not sure whether to move it in the discography articles, since the song did chart as "Pound Cake / Paris Morton Music 2", not just "Pound Cake". And hmm I was thinking the same thing, but two infoboxes might clutter up the article. Also I want to add a "release history" section now, but since I can't access the reference and I am not sure how UK radio is classified, what would the format be titled? Like in the US there is Urban, rhythmic or mainstream. STATic message me! 06:51, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, funny literally right when I went to its Wikipedia article to check if it was there I got your message. So what is your opinion on this? Should the song be moved to singles in the discographies, and what infobox do you think should be used? I do not know if you have ever run into a case like this on here, it is two songs, but it charted and appears on the track listing as a single track. STATic message me! 07:31, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

About this should it not be where I put it? Because the way it is now makes it seem as if it charted all the way back then, and I thought we kept it in chronological order? STATic message me! 15:02, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying that, I only reverted due to another user adding it to 2013 making a double listing in the table. Also the note was a great idea. Cheers!STATic message me! 14:51, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
