Thanks for your addition to List of biblical place names in North America. I want to explain why I reverted your edit. I have watched that article for a white, and often people add Biblical place names, where the actual place isn't actually named after the Biblical place. I checked the articles for some of the names you added, and there was no mention of the place being named after the Bible (though many were). You also added some red links, which would require at least a source to support their entry. If you look back through the article history you will see the you re-added many of the article names I had previously deleted. Would you mind re-adding the names of places that are in fact named after the Biblical place? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:43, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

It's just one sentence, but...
[edit]Further to what I wrote in my edit summary, I find it interesting that the Health equity article itself has a tag cautioning that the "examples and perspective in this article may not represent a worldwide view of the subject". Suppose readers of the Yinshu article were to have read the old revision: would they be inclined to think that the writer(s) of the Yinshu were promulgating the same concept of "health inequity" as modern researchers? On the contrary, the concept of health equity (as is set out in the article) seems to focus on access to modern healthcare (it was far too long to read properly, but I don't see any historic examples), something that the Yinshu clearly does not concern itself with (if "healthcare" was even a concept in ancient China). Even the most blindingly obvious things here require citations, never mind a loaded concept like this that goes beyond describing and quoting from the source material. If you don't have a reference for that, I will go ahead and remove it again, pending a third opinion, for being blatant original research. Cheers, Kingoflettuce (talk) 23:45, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Denniscabrams,
I reviewed this PROD and wanted to highlight a couple steps that you didn't take care of properly. First, any time you tag a page for deletion, and especially a PROD, you should leave an edit summary detailing what step you took. This is important for PRODs because if the tag is removed, an admin needs to be able to see that the article was already PROD'd once and this is seen by looking at edit summaries in the page history. So, the typical edit summary is "Proposing article for deletion" or even just "PROD".
Second, any time you tag a page for any type of deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/TFD/etc.), you need to post a notification on the talk page of the page creator. You can not skip this step. This process is made easier if you make use of Twinkle, a common editing tool and set up your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator". Then, if you use Twinkle to tag a page for deletion, Twinkle will post these notices for you. If you choose not to use Twinkle, then you need to find a template to use or just write the notification yourself. Please do not omit these steps in the future if you tag a page for deletion consideration. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:49, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
List of professional sportspeople convicted of crimes
[edit]First of all, thank you for your work on this page. I do think some of the entries you added need to be removed - if you look at the deletion discussions for the page (there have been several), the one thing that is most important to the page (besides sourcing), is to keep the scope of the page manageable. For this reason, including every athlete who has been convicted of drunk driving, or simple assault is not a plausible option. In general, it's been kept to athletes who have been sentenced to prison (as opposed to a short stint in jail). The general purpose of the article is to list athletes who have engaged in deliberate criminal behavior (or at least very seriously negligent) as a means of reference. Let me know what you think. Category:Towns in New York (state)
[edit]Just wondering why you're removing the category "Towns in New York (state)". Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:52, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- User:Magnolia677, I gave an edit summary on the first batch of removals I did but I guess I left it out of the subsequent edits. I removed individual towns from the category because it's duplicative. Every town in that category was already in another subcategory which fell into that category. For example, Brookhaven, New York was already in "Towns in Suffolk County, New York," which is itself a subcategory of "Towns on Long Island" and "Towns in New York (state) by county," both of which are also subcategories of "Towns in New York (state)." All towns in New York state are already more specifically categorized according to their county within the state. --Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 18:15, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- But Category:Towns in New York (state) isn't a container category; why can't it continue to serve as a central list of all towns in the state? Magnolia677 (talk) 18:25, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- User:Magnolia677, it's overcategorization. We don't put the Brooklyn Bridge in Category:Suspension bridges in New York City and Category:Suspension bridges in New York (state) and we wouldn't put one guy in the category "Canadian baseball players" and "Canadian sportspeople" for the same reasons. They form a Venn diagram in which one category is a circle located entirely within the larger circle of the more general parent category. --Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 18:44, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- Articles about US places are typically added to both categories. See Category:Unincorporated communities in Mississippi and Category:Unincorporated communities in Kansas. I'm not saying you're wrong. In fact, the guidelines support what you are doing. I'm not sure why these thousands of places were excluded from the rule. Let me inquire. Cheers. Question on photos
[edit]Could you please take a look at Colton Cowser and Mason Martin? I cropped the photos to try and make them look better as they were very small and you could barely see the photos. When I use chrome or my phone, the new cropped photos look fine, but when on safari they look overly large and blurry. I've seen you uploading a lot of photos for players so I figured I would ask you. If they look blurry on your end, I'd take tips on how to fix it because I'm not sure what else to do to make them look normal. Thanks! –Malmmf (talk) 17:19, 16 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ezequiel Tovar
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Ezequiel Tovar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://mufcarena.com/where-is-ezequiel-tovar-from/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Onel5969 TT me 13:13, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the message, @Onel5969:. I just wanted to be clear that I did not create this page. I merely copied the text from the Ezequiel Tovar section of the Colorado Rockies minor league players article and pasted it into the Ezequiel Tovar article, replacing the redirect to Colorado Rockies minor league players. This is standard practice when creating an article for a new MLB player. Given that I've been warned that "persistent violators will be blocked from editing" and I was too late in seeing this message to comment in the deletion discussion, I wanted to make some kind of record that I didn't actually create the article and actually added no substantive content. Thanks. --Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 14:44, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. When you copy text like that between WP articles, you still must provide attribution, something along the lines of "Content copied from XXXXX, please see that page's history for attribution". You can also take a look at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. That way, when reviewed, a reviewer knows that the copyvio could be a mirror. It's deleted now, so I can't look at the history, but I do check before CSD'ing. If I missed it, my apologies, I'm pinging Ged UK, the admin who deleted the article, so that they can reverse the deletion, since other than the copyvio, they meet notability criteria. Hope that helps. Onel5969 TT me 15:01, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Per discussion on my talk page, I have undeleted the page. Dennis, please provide attribution as Onel described when splitting from the minor league pages in the future. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:15, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

Invitation
[edit]Hello Denniscabrams!
- The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
- We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
- If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.
Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Russ McGinnis reversion
[edit]Hi there. I apologize for the fact that this is an entire month late, but I came here when I had the time to ask: do you remember why you reverted the edit I made to Russ McGinnis in July? There's no explanation in the edit summary so I came here to ask if you remember why it was done. I would appreciate if you could use edit summaries when reverting edits in the future, if it is no hassle to you. Cheers. — theki (hit me up) 12:42, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Theki: Sorry about not leaving an edit summary. But see Template:To whom?: "Avoid placing this tag if the question, 'To whom?' is not clearly an important missing detail of the article." His wife's identity isn't "clearly ... important." I of course would've added her name if it were given in the article I cited but, given that she isn't named and given that it's not "clearly an important missing detail of the article," I don't think the template is warranted. --Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 13:37, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Denniscabrams: Thank you for the clarification. — theki (hit me up) 16:35, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Howard University alumni question
[edit]- @Denniscabrams:, I noticed your removal of the Howard University Alumni category from a variety of articles today... what is the reason? I didn't check everybody, but some of the people in question (like Naomi Sewell Richardson and Ethel Cuff Black) did attend and graduate from Howard. Can we discuss? Thanks! CaptainAngus (talk) 01:27, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- @CaptainAngus: Everyone who is in the Category:Delta Sigma Theta founders was removed from the Category:Howard University alumni because the former is a subcategory of the latter. See WP:DIFFUSE. Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 01:36, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Category:African-American academic administrators
[edit]Hi. I noticed you changed Category:African-American women academic administrators to be a diffusing subcategory of Category:African-American academic administrators from non-diffusing, but I believe this is against common practice of such categories, as it turns African-American academic administrators into an all-male category; to use the example provided by WP:DUPCAT, Category:British women novelists is a non-diffusing category of Category:British novelists. Curbon7 (talk) 04:17, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
