License tagging for Image:Purisima main.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Purisima main.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:08, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Welcome

[edit]

Hi, Caliwiki123, and welcome to WikiProject
San Francisco Bay Area
!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles relevant to the Bay Area. Here are some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve Bay Area-related articles, so if people ask for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page. It is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, which you are welcome to participate.
  • Our system for improving lower-quality articles is Jumpaclass. If you'll be editing stub, start, or B-class articles, consider using Jumpaclass to track your progress.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign Bay Area topics.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

Again, welcome! We hope you enjoy working on this project.

Wikipedia Egotism

[edit]

Please note this researcher has added himself to the "Notable Alumni of Reed College" page (is that his decision to make?) as well as attaching his own Wiki page to a wide variety of other trees, taking credit for discoveries that have not yet been acknowledged by the scientific community. Additionally, he added a page describing his biography as a "best seller" while this accolade has not been applied by any other book reviewer or media outlet. He has slated numerous valid articles for deletion, including "Enemies of Bill O'Reilly" while defending his alma mater's wiki entry from deletion. He is not the first arborist to walk this earth, as he seems to think. He is a spotlight-seeking hack who should not be encouraged in his commercial endeavours.

Please stop. If you continue to blank out (or delete portions of) page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to Stephen C. Sillett, you will be blocked from editing. Stephen C. Sillett 02:00, 31 July 2007 (UTC) (please stop removing content)[reply]

To all other users who view this page: I dispute this uw-delete3 tag. User:Stephen C. Sillett has been vandalising pages, repeatedly adding POV statements and complaining when they are removed, and User:Caliwiki123 did the right thing. Check Cali's contribution history, especially in regard to Stephen C. Sillett, for proof. Nyttend 14:05, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Stephen sillett.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Reinistalk 17:38, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the image copyright issues, I would suggest you review WP:UPIMG. The best way to add images is for the copyright holder to upload them to Wikimedia Commons under a free license. Alternatively, the copyright holder might send an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org from an email address associated with him, confirming that he allows to use the photo under a free license, or that he has a permission from the photographer to do so. Hello from WikiProject San Francisco Bay Area!

As part of a recent update to our project main page we are conducting a roll call to check which members are still active and interested in working on bay area related content. If you are still interested in participating, simply move your username from the inactive section of the participant list to the active section.
