[edit]Hello "Biruitorule", The German Artist Dan Pero Manescu is an international wellknown artist, and a little bit more as that! The article about Dan Pero Manescu has the right verfied external sources! We are seeing your proposition to delete this article, dear "capitaliat", "monarchist" etc., as a Work of Denigration of the name of Dan Pero Manescu. For this reason if you don't agree to let in place the article in the actualy form, Dan Pero Manescu shall accuse you official of the work of Denigration of his Name and specially of a very ANTI-SEMITIC-TENDENCY! DYK for Christian Evangelical Church of Romania
[edit]On 19 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Christian Evangelical Church of Romania, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that a significant difference between the Christian Evangelical Church of Romania and the Evangelical Church of Romania, which were united under the Communist regime, is the form of baptism each practices? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Yet again, I miss the chance of addressing you the proper seasons greetings during a holiday that is so significant to you - I was out an about on a short notice, for all of Easter, with no regular internet access. But I do hope you had a good time, and that you enjoyed Easter with family and friends - I'm also sure that your Easter was more dignified than that kept by most believers I came across these days... Would you believe I missed reading your reply, and the one above, as well as the "great minds think alike" occurrence on Bamboo Club, happened without me reading it? (It seemed to me you were quite inactive.) It's because my page got a spell of messages, the most amusing of which seems to imply I'm in some dispute with a self-proclaimed CIA analyst (and conspiracy theorist)... Ah, wikipedia... Linking to copyrighted materials
[edit]I was reading an article that I noticed on DYK (I've visited the place in question, well, seen it from the outside) and seen the dragon automation in motion, and looking in the page history I noticed this with the edit summary: 'no links to copyrighted videos, please'. Is this really true? I thought it was OK to link to copyrighted materials (such as pages displaying photographs of people), but not to upload them (obviously). I was wondering why those links were removed? Did you mean to say that the links are to someone else uploading a copyright violation? Carcharoth (talk) 19:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey, sorry about this, but I declined the PROD here. Secondly, please don't make assumptions about my knowledge of reliable sources; would you dismiss this blog site as unreliable, when in fact it is highly reliable + respected. Thirdly, please use some WP:COMMONSENSE with regards to FourFourTwo - do you really think such a high-standing, well-respected magazine would allow any Tom, Dick or Harry to write a blog for them? Advice
[edit]Hello,
I am asking for your advice concerning this edit. Transylvania was only recently added to the Romanian irredentism. By all logic (my logic) mentioning Transylvania as an irredentism claim for the Romanian state is ridiculous. Maybe I am not seeing some aspects. By definition, irredentism is some territory that one political entity claim and/or do not control. Or some region that is disputed. Transylvania is not disputed and it is within Romanian state. Can you please help me, and tell me what do you think? Greetings. Adrian (talk) 15:34, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Erőss Zsolt, Csíkszereda vs. Miercurea Ciuc city name
[edit]Hello,
I can't agree with your repeated correction of the city name in the Zsolt Erőss article. As I already explained you, this is a hungarian related article, so please leave there hungarian city name. Anybody can access the link with romanian name and full description, if he wishes.

Speedy deletion nomination of Decea
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Decea, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a foreign language article that was copied and pasted from another Wikimedia project, or was transwikied out to another project. Please see Wikipedia:Translation to learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. De728631 (talk) 19:33, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- I have now redirected this page to Mirăslău so if you plan to translate something about Decea please expand this main article about the municipality first before creating a standalone article for Decea. Thank you. De728631 (talk) 19:37, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eduard_Tric
Cu citeva modificari (3referinte academice , premiul inovatiei, corectari de gramatica ) , articolul a trecut in productie . Cind am pus pagina in franceza , cei din franca incearca sa suprime si pagina in engleza , fara sa dea nici un argument, desi dupa cum bine ai analizat criteriile de notorietate pentru persoana academica sunt atinse .
Te rog sa ma ajuti in aceasta problema cu toata impartialitatea , experienta mea in wikipedia e mica , dar intotdeauna de buna credinta , or ce fac francezii e foarte tendentios .

Counties template
[edit]Thanks for the welcoming words, Biruitorul.
Regarding the historical counties template: I guess you're right. I was vacillating on this one to begin with, at first I was going along the same lines as you but yesterday I thought we could do it differently, similarly to the approach on the Romanian wikipedia. Nevertheless, inserting a section for the historical county within the current county article makes perfect sense. It's always better when one gets a second opinion ;)
One more thing: what goes on with the "no-article-for-each-village" controversy? Is there any decision or agreed rule on this one? I'm asking this because I saw that people started to overrule our agreement (see the "notorious" example of Jac or this one).

Pictures problem
[edit]Well, OK then, if it's because this lack of 'Freedom of panorama' that I can't update the page, how come the older pictures aren't affected by this 'Freedom of panorama' thing? And how come I could upload the pictures in the Romanian version of Wikipedia? Are there no rules applying there? I mean, how come it works with older ones and doesn't work with new ones, and how come you can upload them on the Romanian page and not on the English version? And many of those pictures aren't even relevant anymore, for instance check this link out:
It shows how the building looks nowadays http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz154/waddler1/SSC/6-12-10_32.jpg and here's your picture of the SAME building that you have on on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pit_Cladire_Victoriei.jpg
Does it look the same? I don't think so! Is it relevant anymore? No! Cause we don't live in 2005 anymore, it's 2011 for crying out loud! Or this one:
this is how it looks today http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=68396411&postcount=169 and now check your picture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pit_Cladire_Victoriei.jpg.
The building has a different purpose nowadays. Well then, if we CAN'T update that page, I'm asking you to remove the old pictures because, not only that they show lack of relevance now (see the links), but they even give the city a somewhat bad image. Do you agree?
And I think you're exaggerating, nobody will sue you for this, ever. Why won't you think normal for a change, not like a moderating robot like you do now, so let me update that page or I'm asking you to delete the irrelevant pictures. Either this or that, those pictures can't stay there anymore, they look like crap for today's standards, you can't keep them there forever as the times and places change.
What is annoying me the most is that we're actually doing the effort of taking pictures, posting pictures, all for nothing just for the sake of updating Wikipedia, and you don't seem to give a damn about our work, and you give us stupid reasons or excuses, even tho- you know as well as I do that those rules don't really matter too much, and nobody will do anything against you if I update that page. I'd like to see a report of how many architects complained to Wikipedia of users braking the 'Freedom of panorama' rule in Romania. I bet you have none, not a single complaint regarding this issue in Romania. It is simply too ridiculous for someone to complain about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Draegenz (talk • contribs) 16:23, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Pictures problem 2
[edit]You said:
"Not that much has changed since 2009 (the date of the pictures you seek to remove)"
If those pictures were uploaded to Wikipedia on 2009, this doesn't mean they were actually taken in 2009, haven't they? And even if they were taken then, a lot has changed since 2009, as you would notice by taking a look at my links in the previous post. Did you even took a look at those links? Please do if you haven't, I even rearranged them in a proper order. I agree we're talking about the same buildings here, but many of them have been restored lately.
"and anyway, historic monuments are not temporary in nature. The Armenian church or the Gabroveni Inn were relevant in 2009, are relevant in 2011, and will be so in 2031."
O rly? Well I have some news for you, they did change! And if you take a better look at the picture of the Armenian Church, you'll see that the picture which is now on Wikipedia was taken when The Armenian church was in a process of restoration. The restoration of the church is complete now so your picture is not 100% relevant anymore.
And I still think that some pictures can be added, this one for instance http://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fișier:Pitesti_fountain_sideview.jpg, that shows only the square. The only 'modern' building nearby is that old communist block, which was build quite a long time ago judging by its architecture (probably in the '40s or early '50s). I'm sure its architect is long gone, so why won't you let me post that one for instance?
Anyway this is not why I'm commenting the second time, I think I bothered you enough with this so I want to let you know that I finally understand what the issue is all about. Yeah it is a very stupid issue, and your example with that picture in Bucharest confirms that. I do understand it's not your fault, initially I thought it was, this is the situation (you're exaggerating as well by enforcing pointless rules that only you know about) but this is how it is, I got it!
I'll just take some pictures to replace the existing ones then. This means I'll just photograph the same buildings that are already there from pretty much the same angles, which in theory shouldn't make any problems at all, but knowing you and the fact that you cling to the smallest things possible, I'd rather ask first. So is this OK? Or should I forget about it and don't bother doing so cause you'll delete those as well?
Sorry for being pissed off, but this is not the first incident that happened. My updates got deleted before, but for a whole different reason! And after clarifying the problem, I got the all clear to post them from your colleague. So I did, and now I see that there was another issue and the pictures got deleted again, it's kinda annoying you know!
Have a good one.
LE: I saw your response. OK, if there's no problem I'll do so in this weekend, just make sure you review them and not somebody else who might delete them for the reason that I deleted the old ones (It happened). (Draegenz (talk) 08:47, 21 July 2011 (UTC))
? was right!
[edit]Thanks for your correction of my unbelievable typo, "protogé", made in extreme haste and probably late, to boot. I laughed out loud when I saw your correction. The edit summary was perfect. Marrante (talk) 16:48, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
Pictures problem 3
[edit]Are you happy with the changes or is there something bothering you from the gallery now? If so, please tell me and I'll change it. Just don't revert the whole thing again. (Draegenz (talk) 18:24, 25 July 2011 (UTC))
OK
[edit]Thanks, I got your answer.
One more thing about this picture. You're probably asking yourself why I removed this: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pit_Egalitatii_colt.jpg I removed it because that is a condemned building now, and it is due to be demolished soon. Here is the picture I took yesterday, you can see the green construction fence and everything: http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8348/p1060379it.jpg . So I took a picture in the same place, but in the opposite direction, towards the museum. (Draegenz (talk))(12:44, 26 July 2011 (UTC))

Hello
[edit]Hello, Sorry to bother you but I am asking for your help to avoid making a report what seems to be good wikipedians, but just on a false track. Since you have knowledge about this subject, can you please help clarify this problem? At my talk page, Hungarian names in Transylvania section and artiles Sibiu, Sigisoara and Transylvanian Saxons. Thanks Adrian (talk) 06:57, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
In a place where a population is under 20% in Transylvania that language name shoudn`t be present in the info box. Where is a link to that consensus? I can`t find it anywhere. Thanks. Adrian (talk) 09:57, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. If you are willing to repair articles Sigisoara and Sibiu, with the exception of Sibiu, I think it should contain the German name into the infobox because it is considered a center for Germans in Romania. You have much more experience than me so please tell me what do you think in this case. Also there is a language problem at [[2]] where I removed Hungarian names in the article because it is an article about Germans, not Hungarians. Your input would be appreciated there. Greetings. Adrian (talk) 14:36, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. I again ask for your guidance. I am in a position to ask myself "am I crazy or what" :). Can you please take a look at this articles history Sibiu;Sighisoara and this [3]. Am I doing something wrong here? Adrian (talk) 16:44, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
- I really don`t understand this kind of users. There was a discussion involving 14 editors on this issue and reached a consensus and now he demands a discussion... And of course, I am the "bad guy" :). Adrian (talk) 18:43, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Sighisoara
[edit]Hello, in case you need this, there is a clear consensus by an Administrator on the "Sighisoara or Segesvar" form here [4]. I don`t know why Taivo repeated his edit because I informed him also about this. Adrian (talk) 20:41, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

The African Dolănescu is moving to Zimbabwe moves to proverbial island, with Elvis and Ceauşescu
[edit]Hah! (Thought I'd make this my timid reply to a complex post of yours from way back.)
Biru, I got your message in the mail, which I don't check nearly as often as I should. Is it okay if I don't reply just yet? I'm a bit jaded (for other reasons, I mean) and mostly into wikidragoning for now, it's what I've missed doing for months. And they've been very hectic months...
But I will say I'm glad for that luminous moment you mention. What, no picture? :)
More to follow. Dahn (talk) 20:00, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- The juicy stuff is, I do believe, in the closing chapter. Here's how to combine Malcolm X and Gobineau:
- BLACK PEOPLE WILL PREVAIL IN THE WORLD
- The latest age of slavery has been the enslavement of Blacks by White people. The memory of this age will persist in the thinking of Black people until they have vindicated themselves.
- This tragic and historic event, the resulting bitter feeling, and the yearning or the vindication of a whole race, constitute a psychological motivation of Black people to vengeance and triumph that cannot be disregarded. In addition, the inevitable cycle of social history, which includes the Yellow people's domination of the world when it marched from Asia, and the White people's carrying out a wide-ranging colonialist movement covering all the continents of the world, is now giving way to the re-emergence of Black people.
- Black people are now in a very backward social situation, but such backwardness works to bring about their numerical superiority because their low standard of living has shielded them from methods of birth control and family planning. Also, their old social traditions place no limit on marriages, leading to their accelerated growth. The population of other races has decreased because of birth control, restrictions on marriage, and constant occupation in work, unlike the Blacks, who tend to be less obsessive about work in a climate which is continuously hot.
- I recall back many, many years ago, when the Colonel was telling some US reporters that it's time for Clinton to act as America's Gorbachev, and free the component states one by one (Clinton, of all people!). So let me say that I have some doubts that anyone could ever fill those sandals, in our lifetime. You're right, I'm beginning to feel a bit sad myself. Sad and old.
- I wanted to talk to you about Historia for a while now. It seems Patriciu's ownership has done a good job of cleaning up the place, even though Cristoiu is still there (Cristoiu's buddies, I believe, were doing the magazine in back some years ago). I don't buy the magazine, rarely do I read it, but I did not notice that they've got some great stuff, especially on popular history. I incidentally bought the Antonescu issue before the Băsescu scandal. (Btw: Although his ideas on the subject are far-fetched, TB's allegations weren't really scandalous, all in all. I myself would want to see an exploration of Mihai's exact positioning in the Holocaust issue, if only so as to dispel rumors - instead of keeping the whole matter ceremoniously taboo, and turning it back to what his mother did for the Jews. What did the king forget, and when did he forget it? In any case, those declassé academics who rushed in on Antena 3 with expertology about how TB is a Holocaust denier... they presumably got families to feed, right?) Anyway, that entire issue is interesting, and utterly politically correct. There's one article by Cristoiu, which is simply inane, but even that is more digestible than what he used to write on the subject.
- But here's the dilemmas: 1) Historia was evidently unreliable a few years back - for instance, when it publicized faked data about the Legionary Rebellion. It has evidently changed. But how do we draw and maintain the line between the two avatars? The same, I guess would go for Adevărul itself, but the proof there is not obscured, and both Historias were under Cristoiu. 2) Although I for one never really disliked him, but merely found him dull, Cristoiu himself is always in a gray area of reliability - and some of the stuff he's been alleged to have done would place him in the Pamfil Şeicaru category. He is hotly criticized, often ridiculed, as a reporter, as an opinion journalist, as a literary critic and as a(n oral) historian. How do we deal with that, and when do we deal with that? Dahn (talk) 21:40, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- You have to give the guy points for trying: he apparently said that all Libyan girls should marry Blacks in the generations to come. I'm not sure where that gets him with his Nation of Islam friends, but it kinda reminds me of how "the official language of San Marcos will be Swedish". I also have to wonder if, at the end of all this, it would have made any difference for Libyans (and probably Tchadians as well) had Libya really been turned into Stalin's colony back in 1945. Sure, they have more guns to spare around them, but the loony factor is still undisputed.
- Yes, from the little knowledge I have on this topic, it does seem a recurring thing that the Arab Christian urban elite should begin work on a nationalist or pan- movement, then watch it, or the entire place for that matter, being redefined by an underclass with more efficient tribal-based political machines. In the case of the SSNP or the Falange, I can't say that's a bad thing: the score is even on the level of illegitimacy between them and their Muslim adversaries. I want to see a strong liberal, liberal conservative, even AKP-like force at work in the Middle East, and I want them establishing a "Young Ottoman"-like status quo and social contract. Heck, I want the Ottoman Empire back, I want an Iran that feels very very small, and I want guys in power that Israel can actually talk to.
- (It is a nice anthem, though.)
- Yeah, I for one agree, but how would one really formulate that distinction so it gets through to potential "third parties"? Short of rewriting Ion Cristoiu or adding to Dinu Patriciu or making Historia into an article? (None of which I plan on doing in the coming
yearsmonths.) I think it would've been best had Patriciu just renamed the magazine. It's not like he has a legacy to defend, other than perhaps Buzatu and Coja's. (Prostitution in Romania? I would love to write the "In culture" part of that article, not sure about the rest. I was even thinking about that as I was writing on "The Fuchsiad", and only found the redirect.) - I was disappointed in Cioroianu's remarks, not because they are anti-TB, but because he's being sophistic. And right after this exquisite article, which if anything should be a lesson for most who took the anti-TB side in the debate. Giurescu is honest and gentlemanly, and his role in the debate is decent, if not really pertinent. But to make any such remarks from The Planet of the Apes, between the good pastor and Oreste, is to render the whole thing meaningless, if not indeed grotesque. With Stelian Tănase, whom I heard continued to propagate claims that TB is a Holocaust denier, even as it is quite evidently a non sequitur, it's a sad case of servitude. Q. E. D. (How the mighty have fallen...)
- Again, I tend to agree that Mihai's role was symbolic, in the absence of proof of misconduct. I also have no reason to presume that such misconduct took place. But I do think the only way in which we can (a) know for sure and (b) stop politicized claims is to actually open up the archives and have a look. At everything, even if "here there be dragons".
- "Nu şi-a cinstit clasa"? Charming, in a Mateiu Caragiale sort of way. I sometimes think that, once the few gentlemen still standing (the real ones, not those who, as you say, had to make a living) will have parted with cele lumeşti, once the few folks who still have a memory of life "before" will have perished, then we'll effectively be a mass of cretins.‡ I had a clear mental image of this once, when I took a bus across town; this old guy was shouting populist slogans, obscenities and unneeded advice, telling everyone about how Dej made him a man (oh, the irony...) and about a youth spent on "all the great sights in this country" - that is, the building sites, where he worked as something, something very physical as I recall. And then it hit me: "This guy is the oldest one on the bus. This guy is our oral history, and when he dies there'd be another elder of communism to take his place. And so on until there'll be elders of post-communism about, who are almost as intoxicated and useless. And I will be being one of them, that's if I'm lucky..." Sure, you could think about a spontaneous change in our fiber, the sort of miracle that makes Botswana a steady democracy. But when you look into the self-congratulating mug of Gâdea; when you realize that people tune in to watch someone as sane as Yukio Mishima, but utterly untalented and uninteresting, who gives them the vulgata of Voiculescianism when he is not exercising bare-chested; when you see the flower of the Golaniad, from Tănase and Iaru to Cristian Teodorescu, picking up the trash without even so much as a sign of disgust; and when you see how virtually everyone around us grows dumber everyday, to the music of neo-securism - you think, what are the chances of that happening? We had them, in the unlikely and sometimes half-assed form of Băsescianism, and then we blew them. I can't really say on what, because the years since 2004 now look like a pool of vitriol, and for the love of me I can't find a way to "be secret and exult"; so long live the oldest gentlemen, for my benefit if not for theirs!
- Excuse the rant.
- On the monuments thing, I never did bother with official designations, so I don't know offhand what the best option is in this case. But don't despair, I hope to return to you on this subjects. (And we really should consider doing something about the whimsical "History of Romania" categories created by our Moldovan friend a year or two ago...)
- PS: Is he really doing them all by hand?! Dahn (talk) 14:53, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
‡ I don't necessarily mean "before, in Kingdom times". I mean globally: before the world was utterly divided between Keynes and Lenin, before turnpikes and dormitory cities, before decolonization into the hands of despots, before virtual reality and 3D gimmicks, before ratings and approval rates, before genetic engineering, before disco... I could go on. Dahn (talk) 15:18, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
My dear friend, I must have entirely debased the concepts of apologizing and postponing, but I do assure you that (contrary to any of my wishes) this absence of mine is owed to a deep personal crisis, about which there is nothing I can do at the moment. I do plan on joining at the very least the last discussion, when I can bring myself to (as disheartened as I am by the mixture of bad faith and gullibility that tries to overturn a practical consensus); for now, I'm making only short stops here to relax, and they are, alas, highly irregular breaks. I really wish I could do more, and more consistently, but... well, let's just say you're better off not knowing about my depressing troubles in real life. Dahn (talk) 13:58, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- Your reply comes at the tough end of a long day for me. If I don't get back to you tomorrow, use a big trout to remind me - to remind me upside the head. For now, let me ask you this: how would you feel about an all-Romanian, all-WWI, DYK queue for December 1? Dahn (talk) 21:44, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Ah, at last. Is that a trout I felt swooshing by? (In my defense, I got so absorbed into "the project"...)
But why did they have to desecrate his body, though? They killed him, fair enough (though think of what a show that show trial would have been), but what do you get out of showing to the entire world that you can do savage as well as the king of kings?
On the AfDs: all from Grigorescu to Teodorovici are indeed notable, if the articles are indeed awfully written; Lasc[ă]r is, meh, borderline as far as I can tell. Monographic sketch of Sălaj County (shouldn't it be under the original Romanian title?!) is one of those things that we don't need, but don't really upset anyone - să-şi facă damblaua, I say, at least until I get a second look. Same thing on the vicar with a flamboyant name - he does get some mentions here and there (I met his name once or twice long before the article popped up); but needs rewrite, if anyone cares enough to give him one. I... don't...
Morrow (golly!) is likely to be a poster boy for the inclusionists - who knows if there is aren't obscure mentions of him in enough American press notices to make it seem like the guy is important to some not editing simeonmorrow.com or wikipedia... I'll let you deal with that :). Igor Meşcoi is entirely deletable, though. So is Tatiana Marinescu. So is Drei Ros. Lord Kemy... I'd have to research on the reliability of African sources, but, leaning on the side of caution, he seems to make the cut. Barely.
I don't yet have an opinion/answer on the monumente issue (and many other issues you have raised, that I have not forgotten, but can't concentrate on yet). But you're right about the issues it poses, and they're already gnawing at me too. And the Castra.... the usual... lack of language skills plus enthusiasm... self-aggrandizing thoughts... taking the bull by the horns... machine-like edits. (That's also how we got the long and absurd series on Moldovan politicians). It's not a picnic whenever you get to explain to these guys why you're putting their articles up for review... any sort of review. Me, I'm in a picnic mood right now :).
And now for the picnic:
I wouldn't conceive of doing this without you (I would also want Bogdan to help us, if he's not too tied up in RL). In fact, I would love it if your article were the lead, and if you had the choice of the picture. Whatever the entry is, we need something that screams "Romania" as a picture - a map, a flag, a crest... I was thinking of getting to work on cleaning up Greater Romania for that purpose, but I just don't have the physical strength right now (would you believe I have tracked down a source on the first actual use of "Greater R[o]mania", verbatim, in English? and that the one to coin it was a Romanian? And please do read the "R.M." tidbit in Gherman Pântea, it's a superb irony of history). Of course, we could work on that together, and share the burden, and get our lead from that article, but it is perfectly alright if you say pass.
The reason I'm going at it so fast, and so intensely, is that there may not be as much free time for me in the next weeks, and I want to get as much happening in the meantime. Who knows, we may end up with two queues-worth of articles for the day. (Károly Ferenczy is a bit of a stretch in several ways.)
As Colombo used to say: just one more thing. We haven't actually asked the DYK crowd, with their understandable monitoring of clicks, if they actually like the idea or even if it's an orthodox thing to do on holidays that are not Americana. Even if we don't get our queue(s), we get many articles around that date, which is adequate consolation.
But in case we do get the queue(s), I think you have the essential role at making it interesting for all readers: you can add the man-bites-dog for every hook, and I'm sure your articles would be punchiest as far as the international audience cares. Dahn (talk) 08:55, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- It's actually great (not man-bites-dog, but great). When will you DYK it? Dahn (talk) 06:30, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, those are all good ideas, except all but TR would take a lot of time and research (for the summary, one would almost have to reread Rebreanu all the way through). It is a challenge, though... it would be nice to meet up to it. If you want to take something right away, please do. I'll squeeze in some more about Fleva, maybe Carp all the way through (they can both go with the theme, and I'm already thinking juicy hooks), and in the meantime maybe something on this guy (vaguely connected to the theme, but such a cool story). If I'm good and finish all my vegetables, maybe I can complete by starting on Theodorescu-Sion back where I left him. He was the war painter, after all.
With Pântea and the Corps (that's one institution we've got already) and your Samoilă Mârza, that would make five or six. With one-two more, we get the average DYK queue, and Bogdan has pledged his contribution. We still don't know if they'll let us do it, but if they do, could we (gulps) be looking at two queues? Dahn (talk) 19:41, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to hear you'll be gone (I do hope to see at least flashes of your presence, at least around Dec 1); but yes, absolutely: DYK, and perhaps even at the top of the/one queue. Great one!
- I was also sorry to catch glimpse of that conundrum - I know you're in the right, even without looking over the text (of course, if it would help you blow off the steam, do send me a copy); I know because I have a constant and "macro" perspective on your editing style, and plagiarism you just don't need to do. I chose not to intervene so far because we are perceived as so close to each other that it would have risked seeming like a cabal. It was frustrating for me as well: damned if I do, damned if I don't. Remember: Illegitimi...
- To better days. Dahn (talk) 07:51, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit]I had to decline the BLPPROD here. While there is an on-going RfC on this point, consensus is and appears to be that even an unreliable source is "enough" to prevent placing a BLPPROD tag, this is explained in more detail at WP:BLPPROD#Nominating. Of the Space Cowboy
[edit]And welcome back!
Let me begin by saying that I am ever so sorry when I fail to reply in kind to your wonderful e-mails. I assure you there is a reason for my silences, a complicated and rather sad reason that has to do with real life; I was thinking of making it all into an explanatory e-mail, but it is very hard to find the right context and the right words to describe what is happening.
As for the grief here: for all the aggravating Cuza crapola, I did learn that Nae Caţavencu's legacy is kept alive by that one WikiProject, and that it's best to leave those jokers cuddle each other somewhere out of sight and out of mind. I noticed the village thing, and from the very first lines it brings to mind some really awful dialogue from a pulp adventure novel. You know the kind:
Professor: "I think we should [really bad idea]!"
Youth: "But Professor, I'm not sure [really bad idea] will work?!!"
[Four more lines of Professor insisting that really bad idea is also really risky, grueling, and possibly pointless.]
Youth: "I'm impressed, Professor!!! When can we start?!!"
But let's stick to the even more fun bits for now. That is other than that I'm preparing P. P. Carp's revenge on this world of ninnies :).
Let me first note: They've got the s- and t-commas in the editing box because I made them do it! Not that I'm going to use it until they make it a rule, but it's all for the little people of this world.
About Craiova: the photos I had are on a laptop somewhere, and I keep uploading bits of them when there's not much else to do; I have to sort them, rename them, edit them a bit, and then go through the painful process of uploading them and sorting them again on commons (gnarg!). Which is saying I might have had a Demetrescu photo or two (trying as best I could to cut out the Babylonian monument behind it); if I didn't, it is indeed bewildering: I uploaded one of the house just opposite! Probably back in the day (this was months ago) I decided not to because I didn't know who the sculptor was. It was the same for the Carada and Ion Maiorescu monuments, both of whom were done by sculptors who died relatively recently. Curse that growth in life expectancy... (And I think Solomon is back, by popular acclaim, ready to suffocate even more votes from the PDL's national pool and give Gâdea some more curd to chew.)
Biru, those are all lovely, but, well, you know, freedom of panorama? When I was last at the prison site, on a murky spring evening, I realized the only part of the complex that I could actually photograph without asking myself that question was a large pile of stones and garbage, as long as I avoided shots of any of the sky rise on each side... Detestable, God-awful FOP law...
(You actually found the 1907 monument? They took pains to hide it away from sight, and I admit I never bumped into it after they moved from the park - not that I was really looking...) Oh, right, 105th anniversary! Why didn't you say it earlier!? :) To consider, as we keep coming back to it.
"The Ceausescu Moment" - I want to say merge.
Hope to still be around these days, for the Xmas wishes to come just in time. Stay wonderful! Dahn (talk) 13:57, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- More or less. I just pop out then and now, can't really wrap my head around something of the bigger kind. I do hope to get working on that e-mail at some point, I feel I owe it to you: as I said before, it's complicated and quite sad.
- As late as it is now: Happy New Year! Sorry I wasn't around for a chat around the festivities, but I just couldn't deal with wikipedia right then. Dahn (talk) 14:59, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
I refuse to comment on any of that while this effigy of common sense is being hunted down by the mad doctor Florin Tudose. I stand by the author in requesting that we all chip in to paint Lt. Gheorghe a new color, and let it be one that throws the average psychiatrist off-track. I suggest "many layers" of ecru would do the job. I am in disagreement with him, however, as to whether we should plant Gheorghe in the ground and watch him blossom into a medicinal plant - the guy is just 27, let him live a while before you start experimenting. Paul Philippe of Romania
[edit]Dear Sir,
I was trying to add to Paul Philippe Hohenzollern page information based on family documents that he provides on his website. I find it weird that you consider that a copy of his passport, with his royal title, recognized by the British authorities and monarchy is "something we can do without". Because Romania is a republic, noble titles cannot be put in identity cards or passports. The situation is different in monarchic states and I do think that a British passport is something to take into consideration regarding this matter.
Thank you for your help, Otilia — Preceding unsigned comment added by OtiliaC (talk • contribs) 08:48, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Dear Sir,
Indeed, HRH Prince Paul and HRH Princess Lia of Romania are both Orthodox Christians. The mother of Prince Paul being of Russian extraction was likewise Orthodox. In the case of Princess Lia, she is of pure Romanian origins and was also baptised as an Orthodox in the USA.

[edit]I have deleted most versions of Teodor Atanasiu (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) in order to remove the negative information which has recently been subject of edit warring. All but one of the references to that paragraph are dead, and, as a result, they fall into the category of negative unsourced information and are subject to removal under Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Articolele despre Mariana Nicolesco şi Radu Varia
[edit]Stimate User „Biruitorul”!
Dr. Stephan Poen

Cathedral of the Unity of the People
--Mihai Andrei (talk) 16:50, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

"Politics of" templates
[edit]Personally I think these do serve a purpose - they do not only provide links to contemporary issues, but also to things like lists of Presidents and Prime Ministers, parliaments and sometimes additional election-related info like electoral commissions. These are all things that are related to the elections (as the outcome determined the composition of the lists). You cite the 1919 election article as an example - from this the reader can click through to articles on the President of the Senate, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the Prime Minister to find out who held these positions at the time (I was also expecting to find links to the various constitution as second level bullet points under the Constitution section as well).
As far as I am aware, these have always been used on election articles across Wikipedia - when I started writing election articles they were already being used on them, so I just continued to do so (with the above justification seeming reasonable). Cheers, Number 57 23:37, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

- Notwithstanding our personal differences, I can't ignore the good work you've been doing in creating articles about Romania's (past) industrial facilities. Although sometimes the contribution of the 1947-1989 era feels minimised, the articles are nevertheless good starting points for the coverage of Romania's economy, which is quite under-represented on WP. Şandru gets a "keep trying" review ([6] - you have to literally read through the lines, they messed up the format) and has a fan somewhere in Târgovişte, but that's about it, and the sarcastic comments in the articles are quite telling. I have no idea who Valeriu Munteanu, "Vladimir Catana", "Misu Ilie" and "Dorin N Poenaru" are, and I decline competence - the format of the articles is enough to not make want to perform any googling on them. I noticed the hype on A. G. Weinberger a while ago, by sheer coincidence; but I believe he is actually quite notable: [7], [8], [9] [10], etc. Sighetu Marmației explosions is indeed an absurdity, but alas you're right on the other one - it's news that just won't quit, and it got the "necessary" media hype. But think of it as a sandbox for people who would otherwise edit elsewhere... Speaking of boxes: Seljuks in Dobruja is some sort of frivolous soapboxing, as far as I can tell; I cannot discern if any content deserves to be kept. Dahn (talk) 22:47, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, how does one start an AfD for articles that are reposted? Seriously, I don't know. I've missed that part of the guide, and, if I ever did it before, I forgot how...
- (If only it were n, we'd know...) Dahn (talk) 16:14, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- I refrained from commenting on Catana after his own comments there - I felt a surge of pity, let's say. The man who goes by the stage name of "Octave" (goodness know why the he prefers that strange reconstruction for an article title) used to be a bit over the notability threshold, 1,000 years ago. What I remember is that he was on TVR 1 all the time, and he apparently worked on the Actualităţi theme - yes, for some reason I remember that crap. But now it seems no one cares - I did the search, and zippo. There might be paper sources from the 90s, but who can be bothered to dig for them?

[edit]Dear User, I do not have any doubts you know for long time Wikipedia rules and, personally, I tried also to do my best in the same sense. For me it is not a matter of a close connection or not with what you call “the subjects”, but a close connection with a serious documentation regarding their careers and biographies. Who then should right an article about a subject or another if not somebody close enough to the matter? Frankly, it is difficult to understand your position when you tell me that I don’t have any rights on my own research since “you simply cannot take my word that the information found in the article is fact”. Then, who has the rights? You say that I am not “the owner, manager or head editor of the article and that I hold no editorial control over the content of my article”. Then, who does? And, in the same time, you feel free to intervene in the items, while you do not have the information needed, you reduce them to an inacceptable and totally incomplete versions, full of mistakes! Is that correct? However, a statement concerning my responsibility for the biographies we are talking about will never be a problem. How should I do it? There is no any threat at all in my message to “Biruitorul”, simply the passionate respect for the personalities mentioned in the two items. So, let’s work together, tell me point by point, on my texts, what and how we could eventually improve them. Best regards, - Dr. Stephan Poen Talk 21:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Mulţumiri, Dr. Stephan Poen Talk 18,18, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
MARIANA NICOLESCO & RADU VARIA
[edit]Stimate „Biruitorul”!

- Congratulations, you finally filled the redlink! (Alexandru Toma nu mai e singur, as they used to say about Comrade Camil.) I was split down the middle between reviewing the hook or sharing credits - I have very tasty and quite thorough references, as you know, but so. little. time. But I rest assured: as a fervent Christian (and long-term conspirator) you have elevated patience to an art form.
- My favorite quote for that week was Toni's "there's a sort of black confusion in my mind". After having had to red the same things he was trying to make sense of, I know what he meant. But either way, it's so preciously Caragialesque... Dahn (talk) 17:06, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
And a Happy Easter to you too! (I'm back, and leaving a long trail on commons...) Dahn (talk) 17:40, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- Let me divert you attention with a more soothing thought. If we ever get to expand this, the DYK prospects are rich: we're talking about a guy picked up for sedition (mine), a convicted murderer (
mineours), a convicted genocidal murderer (yours), a fugitive from Romanian justice (yours), and we can contrast them with the world-renowned scholars... Dahn (talk) 09:51, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hm. I'd still rather vote, say, Prigoană for President than Antonescu for traffic warden. Not because of Prigoană, mind you, but because the other guys are simply terrifying - the PSD has shown it can crush a country in four-years time, and there's no more EU pipe dream on the horizon this time around. Still orange, because Neamţu doesn't seem to be doing anything; and because the president is tired - but he is still the best president we've had. Dahn (talk) 20:11, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- But hey, it's fun even when we agree to disagree - if I'd ever have any doubts about my "Orangism" [note: I seem to be the only one still donning the damned color - the PDL itself seems to be going "green" - hopefully not an *ominous* green], they'd be there because of something you said. Well I don't (yet?): but it's still good that the cause is not left entirely to the people who get their politics from Antena 3 digests. That said, a part of me is still entertaining the hope that you're undermining the cause from within :). Dahn (talk) 10:44, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Let's share that glory, by all means! Count me in. Dahn (talk) 15:26, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- To begin with, thanks for taking my (an the Swedish king's) side.
- Quick answers:
- Străjescu was apparently from Bessarabia, and not really a politician of Romania. The one serious source I came across online, the only one to even confirm something about his biography, is here. Might as well move him to more relevant Bessarabian categories, until more data on his career shows up (if ever).
- Let's work backwards from that for now. I would tend to prefer a "Principality of Moldavia" in categories, because "Moldavia" seems a bit vague (Bukovinan politicians, for instance, are also Moldavian politicians in theory), and plenty of people still believe that Moldavia and Moldova are roughly the same thing. The difficulties I'm having with a "Principality of Moldavia politicians" parent category are that: a) the technical difference between civil servants, courtiers and politicians was not well defined even during the brief and final episode in which Moldavia actually had some semblance of electoral politics; b) the medieval and post-medieval longue durée of Moldavian history would in theory warrant "politicians" such as Luca Arbure or whatnot, but that naming applied to the 16th century would be odd to say the least (and the internal difference between the 16th and 19th centuries would be hard to pinpoint). Perhaps something along the lines of Category:Ottoman political people? But before we consider that, let's look into the potential subcategories, and perhaps hold them just as subcats of "Romanian politicians" for the time being: "Category:Prime Ministers of the Principality of Moldavia" sounds fine; how about "Government ministers of the Principality of Moldavia" as the intermediary category, with Negruzzi thrown in there? And then, for Moş Ion (and as a new cat for Kogălniceanu etc.), we can go with "Members of the ad-hoc Divans" (under "Category:Romanian legislators").
- I think I've handled the few others, hope I did not miss anyone. I still don't recall why I had left Straucher in that redundant category... Dahn (talk) 12:46, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- How about a full tree: Category:Ethnic Romanian politicians in the Russian Empire(maybe one will pop up that is not from Bessarabia - Prince Mikhail Cantacuzène?)->Category:Ethnic Romanian politicians of the Bessarabian Governorate (with Stere, Nour, Arbore etc. and maybe Donici)<-Category:Politicians of the Bessarabia Governorate (with Krushevan, for instance). I remembered I pondered the same a while ago, but seemed too complicated to focus on at that time, especially with Russavias flying around the place. Feasible? Desirable?
- Since we're on the topic. I remember being terribly frustrated about not finding any credible sources on this, and the entire transitional period seems to be ignored by the sources I used on MK. Did you perhaps dig up something other than what they say on rowiki? Dahn (talk) 12:48, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- Before I weigh in on the (potential) AfDs: this caught my eye back when I was writing N. D. Cocea, and the wife thing now is making it itchy; the man is evidently notable, and interesting enough, but the article is just... a sore. Speaking right away, I can tell you that Gheo at least is notable enough.
- Well, I would picture that "Dumnezeu" is at least a valid redirect to Dumitru Popescu (activist) (it's a bit more civil, but almost as fun, as the interwar precedents - Constantinescu-Porcu or Iliescu-Turtucaia). Apparently the man is still alive, and we may get tangled in BLP concerns, so if you say it's too fun I'll go for the "activist" link there and everywhere else. But a little bit of me will die.
- Thanks for the MK link, the one I used. The other as you say, is not the best resource we could pick. Dahn (talk) 15:48, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Sirnea
[edit]"Alors, c'est la guerre!" But I do not think you can win a campaign to eliminate all articles on Romanian villages: the only question is whether a subject is notable, and I have yet to find a village which isn't. NB, ro.wikipedia has articles on Romanian villages, including this one.
I am also a great fan of Enoch Powell - I met him once and remember it acutely. If there are such men now they no longer go into public life. Moonraker (talk) 20:14, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- I thought you might spot a glancing reference to the sensible obduracy of Ioannis Metaxas. When all's said and done, it's simply a matter of notability. Sirnea has more than six hundred hits in Google books and quite a few in Google Scholar. It's notable and merits its own article, which I am working on. Moonraker (talk) 21:49, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Dear Biruitorul, I don't know if it might be worthwhile you having another look at this one. Notwithstanding the style of the article I think the book by West about him alone should be enough for notability - plus there seem to have been TV programmes and even a play about him. I hope it is OK to mention this here and feel free to ignore this. Best wishes anyway (Msrasnw (talk) 20:37, 13 April 2012 (UTC))

..well, thanks for your effort. My source [14] claims that "he has performed with a salon orchestra in the town of Czarnowcy in his native Bukovina". It is a good source, but it is the only detailed info I found online. [edit]Hello Biruitorul and thanks for your help with the Ion Miu article. I found this article quite difficult to write since I don't know Romanian, and reliable sources of information are fairly scarce. I've added one more reference which is a printed article about him. I've also added persondata and a translation template.
I just wondered whether, with your knowledge of Romanian, you might be able to help with any of the "citation needed" points by finding any further reliable sources? I'll carry on searching, too. DYK for Copşa Mică works
[edit]On 11 June 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Copşa Mică works, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that two factories (one pictured) in Copşa Mică, Romania, together made it one of the most polluted towns in Eastern Europe by the early 1990s? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Copşa Mică works. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Inexistent villages
[edit]You are probably aware that we do not have the same views on most issues. However, whatever your views I find it unacceptable to present false information in your contributions. Listing inexisting villages as components of various communes of Romania is completely misleading. And deleting them from the list of former villages is incorrect. Villages such as Nedelcu, Filiu or Piua Petrii have disappeared and do not exist any more. They may not have been important, according to your views - there are no Wikipedia criteria for what former localities qualify for separate articles. If you do not believe me you may check the information you provide otherwise. But please do not invent localities which do not exist any more. Afil (talk) 21:36, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Advice - Again :)
[edit]Hello, I apologize that I come often for advice to you but whenever you advised me the problem was almost instantly solved. I hope you don`t mind contacting you again. I have a problem, maybe you noticed it [16], [17] and a bunch of articles with this problem. I have made a report for edit warring [18] but nothing is solved so far. I am kinda lost because I believe I have absolute right with my edits(and I think I "overgrown" edit warring :) ) according to other examples and "Native_name" usage but maybe I am not seeing some angles. I actually tried to talk here in hope that any editor would participate [19] but with no success. What do you think about this problem? Any advice for me how to proceed ? Thank you. Adrian (talk) 08:05, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you. I hope this edit warring will not escalate any further. Greetings. Adrian (talk) 18:27, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Hello, I am trying to answer this but since you participated in this consensus, maybe you could do it more reliable and better than me. Thank you. Adrian (talk) 18:46, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Salut, Faci o mare greseala contestand articolul cu Red Bull Romaniacs. Nu incerc nici o promovare, Red Bull e sponsor oficial.
— Preceding unsigned comment added by RBromaniacs (talk • contribs) 20:51, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Cold War article
[edit]Hello. You removed, without discussion, the reference I added in the Cold War article to the 2009 JFK Library forum on the US Presidency and nuclear weapons. The conference was described as:
Presidency in the Nuclear Age: The Race to Build the Bomb and the Decision to Use It. - October 12, 2009 October 12, 2009 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
President George H.W. Bush made opening remarks (via video) at this one-day conference – sponsored by the nation’s 13 Presidential Libraries – that examined how the Presidency and U.S. foreign policy have been reshaped by the advent, use and spread of nuclear weapons. The first panel, The Race to Build the Bomb and the Decision to Use It, featured Richard Rhodes, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Making of the Atomic Bomb; Wilson D. Miscamble, Professor of History and University of Notre Dame; and Jennet Conant, author of 109 East Palace: Robert Oppenheimer and the Secret City of Los Alamos.
I think it's related or else I wouldn't have put it in. There were many panels, not just the one the transcript is for. In fact, Panel 3 was "The Cold War and the Nuclear Arms Race" although that may not have been readily apparent. So, I think mentioning the conference has merit. --- Wikiklrsc (talk) 02:09, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
Belatedly contested PROD
[edit]You proposed Ministry of Words: Keith Newman for deletion. Since the proposal was not contested within a week, I deleted the article. However, the author has now objected to the deletion, so I have restored it. You should normally inform the author of an article about a PROD, so that they have a chance to contest it. You are, of course, free to take the article to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion if you still think it should be deleted. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:23, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Biruitorul. Thanks for your comments at Talk:Mărgărita Miller Verghy. I would like to invite you back to comment on a follow-up proposal. Cheers. Kaldari (talk) 22:31, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- Conqueror, I also saw your comments and couldn't agree more. I also saw the RM, but thought it so ridiculous I went and created a stub on ro.wp instead....
- You said "I hope this tendentious campaign will stop one day" - well See Talk:Dominik Halmosi, that was the last of the deliberately "English name" sports BLPs.
- But it won't stop while xenonymophobic edits like this one are on top of the guidelines. The editor who reverted that is blocked now, but the edit is still in place. And the guideline basically says "Follow sources with typographic limits."
- Fortunately however for some projects - like WP Romania, WP Poland - there are enough editors. Then for some like WP Spain, there aren't Talk:Santa Maria de Ovila. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:07, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, "I know I'm preaching to the converted, but it's just too bad so much time needs to be wasted on something quite obvious." ... in the long run more time will probably be wasted while top edit at WP DIACRITICS gives Dolovis' view rather than Prokonsul Piotrus. I just had an editor cite exactly that edit as an authority again today against restoring a move on a Vietnames name. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:24, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
