I am proving a valuable point. Also I will take this to the civil courts in order to get my name removed from conflict of interest page. Wikipedia is getting to neutral for me...when are humans only neutral? How can I be neutral in emotion? I am expressing my points as neutrally as I can. I do use notable resources. I rather keep this conflict of interest small don't you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulifan (talk • contribs) 01:06, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Please relist Pauli Rodriguez wikipedia article. If appeal democrat is notable then why did you accept a wikipedia article about them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal-Democrat. I was also noted in the Sacramento Bee several times, the capital newspaper of California and several times in the Appeal. I was also noted in several other newspapers in California. Please relist my article. Thank you!
maybe you should take the appeal democrat and sacramento bee articles down along with many others. Please remove me from the conflict of interest page, I want to add to my Pauli Rodriguez article. Pauli Rodriguez is a noteworthy person.

Template
{{helpme}}Is there some kind of template that will convert text such as Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/nominate to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/nominate? Btilm 18:45, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't have any actual experience with it but it just so happens that this edit popped up on my watchlist recently and I noted that the user, stating in his edit summary he was using Wikipedia:AutoEd, corrected a link from underscores to regular links. Of course, if a page has tons of them, you can always hit Ctrl+a to highlight all, then Ctrl+c to copy, then paste (Ctrl+v) into Word or Wordperfect, and then use the program's find and replace function to replace all underscores with spaces (I did that on this page once, removing over 9,000 underscores in a single edit). Hope this helps.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 19:20, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- I had a look for a template that could do it, and couldn't find one - so I doubt one exists. It all rather depends upon why you want to do it anyway; if you could explain that, perhaps we could find a solution. Chzz ► 19:22, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I was creating something where I substituted text in a link and each separate word has an underscore between it. Btilm 19:24, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

NewPageWatcher
{{adminhelp}}Is NPWatcher still broken? If not, can someone look at the requests page and grant permissions? Thank you. Btilm 20:41, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, NPWatcher is still broken (it was broken by the software update we had not too long ago). When it is fixed, you should easily get permission to use it, as you appear to meet the general guidelines. Thanks, The Earwig (Talk | Contribs) 20:49, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
John Lynch (clergyman)
Thanks for the bits you sorted out on this new page, but "expences" wasn't a typo -- it is how the word was printed in the book I quotes (published in 1793). Is there a WP policy about literal accuracy in quotations of this sort? Vidoue (talk) 22:11, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well expences is actually an obsolete spelling of the word expenses. It is okay to say that. It is okay to use it, because is it still a word. I have no idea about the policy thing, though. Btilm 22:15, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

- Okay. I probably will do it. But first, what does an asterisk to the right of a username mean? Btilm 00:13, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- It means that the user has not been reviewed by anyone yet. That was put in place (not by me) to allow reviewers to see who has yet to receive a review just by visiting the main [[WP:ER|Editor review] page. The asterisk is removed by the first person that reviews the user, along with the *<!-- Remove the ASTERISK next to the username and this TAG when you review this user --> {{Not yet reviewed}} message in the review itself. Thanks & if you have any more questions, please let me know. Netalarmtalk 00:18, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- I see that you have a SHA-512 commitment thing on your user page. What is that and how do I get one? Btilm 00:21, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Here is the documentation for that. A hash is a one way function, so only the user that created the hash will know what content was hashed. Example, the MD5 hash of "A" is "7fc56270e7a70fa81a5935b72eacbe29." There is technically no way for anyone else to know that "7fc56270e7a70fa81a5935b72eacbe29" was created by hashing "A", unless they also know that "A" creates that hash. Rainbow tables may be used to "crack" hashes, so consider hashing a longer string, making it impossible to find the original content. Netalarmtalk 00:37, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

{{helpme}}I am not yet approved for the account creation request interface. I signed up days ago. How much longer will it take for me to get approved? Btilm 03:14, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

There are very few users with permissions to grant access, and none are currently online for me to chase up. Please be patient; it is definitely in the queue for approval. - I don't know. I've never used Huggle, so I'm not at all familiar with it. I have a few thousand smalltown articles on my watchlist (they get edited so rarely that I'm not swamped by tons of changes), and the Demographics sections are similar enough (including all having the same source) that the absence of this reference tag means nothing to me except that I need to restore it. - Okay. Thank you. And, if you don't mind me asking, do you think I would pass an rfa? If not, why? Btilm 04:26, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- I really don't know. Other than when I was nominated, I've almost never done anything with RFA, so I'm not too familiar with the process. I would guess that at least some people would be hesitant because most of your mainspace edits are vandal fighting: while that's obviously not trivial, many people believe that it's good for an admin to be experienced in adding content as well as preserving what's already there. {{helpme}}How can I tell if I can use an image off of another website? Something about a GNU license? Please include a lot of wikilinks! Thank you. Btilm 01:44, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- WP:Copyrights should get you started. Basically, though, Wikipedia follows these main rules with images:
- Free images are always preferred
- If no free image is available, a fair use image may be used, within limits
- All images must have copyright information including the creator, copyright holder (if different from first), source, and licence.

{{helpme}}Okay. Say I am expanding a stub. Is there any way I can tell others that I am expanding it so that we both don't do it at once? Btilm 01:59, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think you need to worry about that; the stub backlog is colossal. It's extremely unlikely that more than one person will expand the same stub at once. If you need reassurance, though, you can leave a note on the talk page. Intelligentsium 02:32, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I'm getting back to you about the Littlegreybird/Iain Scott page that I want to move to Iain Scott. I've read the MOS but I'm not sure what the new section is that you want me to add. I cannot edit your monobook page, only you can. I think the only way you can indent is to copy and paste from the twinkle document page. Try this:
if( typeof( TwinkleConfig ) == 'undefined' ) TwinkleConfig = {}; // DO NOT REMOVE THIS LINE - ALL TWINKLE SETTINGS AFTER THIS TwinkleConfig.watchProdPages = false; TwinkleConfig.watchRevertedPages = []; TwinkleConfig.watchSpeedyPages = []; TwinkleConfig.watchWarnings = false; //END

Tests
It was some gibberish about some alleged person allegedly born in the 1870s. Someone testing out what they can do on Wikipedia.
Why do you ask? DS (talk) 02:55, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, actually, I think that would be more like A1. I saw the page before you deleted it and I really think you might have made a mistake.... Btilm 02:58, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter. If anything, it was halfway between a G3 and a G10, but either way it was crap. There's a difference between "born in 1878 in New York" and "born in 1878 in New York, is dumb and stupid, HIS FAVORITE WORD IS PAPAYA".
- I don't bother to use the CSD codes; instead, I just use what they mean. In this case, I decided to be generous and consider it a test of what Wikipedia will allow. DS (talk) 03:08, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

In what situations do you want to put in the space? You may want to use {{indent}}, or you could just save the "big space" code you have in your sandbox, and copy&paste it when you need it. DigitalC (talk) 01:53, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Regex
{{helpme}}I am doing regex and want to find the following text:
[[eBay]]
How would I do that without the brackets interfering? Btilm 00:52, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- You'd want to escape the brackets with: \[\[eBay\]\]. I think that should answer your question. — The Earwig (Talk | Contribs) 00:59, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- I am using AWB, and I tried to do this, but it wouldn't work. This is what the total regex code looked like: \b\[\[eBay\]\]\b. Any suggestions? Thanks. Btilm 02:12, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- It depends, what are you trying to manipulate about the text? I can help you if you give me more specifics. You can talk to us instantly in this IRC Chatroom [2]. That would probably be quicker Tim1357 (talk) 02:23, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know why, I just don't like IRC. Here is what I am trying to do. I want to use RegEx to find text using AWB. I want to find [[eBay]], including the brackets. Since the brackets would interfere with the RegEx, you would have to use an interrupter. In this case, I used a backslash. \b\[\[eBay\]\]\b is what I came out with. I tested it and it would not find [[eBay]]. I might not be getting this whole RegEx thing. Is it in the language Perl? If so, is there an on-wiki tutorial on how to use it? Thank you. Thats good, but I'd still like to know what you want to do with it. So, if you could, tell me what you want to replace [[ebay]] with. BTW, AWB is written in dotNET, so you'll have to use dotNET Regex.Tim1357 (talk) 02:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Helpme Question I was looking up a dotNET tutorial, and I understand some of it now. But, why doesn't my expression work? I just want to learn how to use it. I just want to know why it isn't working. Btilm 02:43, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- In all due respect, Btilm, Regex is a big subject. Whole books have been written on it. I can help you with specific problems, but I don't think either of us wants me to go through all of the details, and I don't think I know all of them. And in response to what I think is your question: there is no reason why you cant just say
find: eBay
- and just ignore the brackets, and the regex will find all instances of eBay, weather or not it has brackets. Tim1357 (talk) 02:48, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- I just re-read your question, Im researching that out. Tim1357 (talk) 02:52, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. Thanks. Btilm 02:56, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, I can't find any reason why that wouldn't work. I would look here or go to AWB's Talk Page and ask for help there. Sorry I couldn't help. Nobody else here (the IRC) knows Regex. I don't even know it that well. See Category:User_regex for a list of users who know regular expression. Tim1357 (talk) 03:06, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion and AfD
As a rule of thumb, don't nominate an article for deletion at AfD when it has a speedy deletion tag on it. In the case of The Stewards of Somerset, speedy deletion was clearly appropriate, so not only did I have to delete the article, but I also had to close the AfD. That article had such a clear lack of notability that no discussion was necessary. —C.Fred (talk) 04:10, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I noticed some of your work on ACC today and thought i would offer a little help. I believe you may be going to the list of recently created accounts rather than the pending requests, which often get reserved within a few seconds. If you are looking over things to see how it works you don't need to reserve the requests. You may want to review WP:ACCG or/and join most of us on the IRCchannel #wikipedia-en-accounts. There is a bot on the IRC channel that notifies us when new requests come in. If you happen to use Firefox there is an add-on that you can install to join in the IRC discussion. Cheers delirious & lost ☯ TALK 04:28, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- I am using the firefox addon check4change. What is the addon you are referring to? All check4change does is refresh the page at a set interval and notifies you if something has changed. Thanks. Btilm 04:54, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Chatzilla for IRC chat. Sometimes 7 requests come in within 92 seconds. Other times there is nothing for 5 hours. The changes are dependent on the requests of prospective users, ie no set interval. ACCBot notifies of the requests on IRC as they come in. Other than for IRC i am a Chrome user so i have no idea what check4change is. delirious & lost ☯ TALK 05:04, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Your comment in the Film Victoria AfD sounds like you are withdrawing the nomination, but I'm not quite sure enough to close the AfD with that outcome. If this is your intention, then feel free to close the AfD yourself (see Wikipedia:Deletion process#Articles for deletion page has instructions if you aren't sure how to do this) or, alternatively, you can clarify your statement on the AfD discussion page and someone else will do it for you.
If you aren't withdrawing the nomination, I'd clarify your statement accordingly. Thryduulf (talk) 14:17, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Altered Speedy Deletion rationale: Lewis Owen Clarke
Hello Btilm, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (Lewis Owen Clarke) under a criterion different from the one your provided, which was inappropriate or incorrect. CSD criteria are narrow and specific to protect the encyclopedia, and the process is more effective if the correct deletion rationale is supplied. Consider reviewing the criteria for speedy deletion. Autoreviewer
According to the suggested guidelines the threshold is 75 valid articles, you're at 53 [6] (c. 3500 edits). I'd say you're at the upper "edge" of those that are granted Autoreviewer. If I were you I'd put your request at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autoreviewer - and if there's a problem there I'd put in my support for you. Skier Dude ► 04:11, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Ruth tester
Hello Btilm, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Ruth tester - a page you tagged - because: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. NW (Talk) 04:24, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm a well-established editor, I've put up the appropriate tags while I'm editing it, so give me a few minutes to add the appropriate sources. --nsaum75 ¡שיחת! 04:45, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry. I didn't see the tags. Just make sure it meets Wikipedia's nobility guidlines. Btilm 04:48, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Your PROD of Baytown Sun
I have removed the prod you placed on this article because of the "underconstruction" and "inuse" tags on the article. It is bad faith to place any deletion tag on articles tagged with those I mentioned. In the future, please ensure the page you are tagging does not include either of these tags. ArcAngel (talk) 04:49, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Your CSD tagging of Veterans of American University
I have corrected the tag from db-person to db-company as the article is about an organization and not a person. I would suggest reading this section to ensure that you understand how to appropriately tag pages for speedy deletion. ArcAngel (talk) 05:01, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- It was actually suppose to be a copyvio tag. I had no idea how I selected person. Thank you for correcting me. Btilm 05:04, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- If you use automated tools it's not hard to do, especially if you are trying to go fast. Best thing I can tell you is to double-check your selection before submitting. ArcAngel (talk) 05:07, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Please be a little bit more careful
Neither Nodi Swamy Navirodu Hige nor Nodiswamy naviroduhege nor Motor Pool (Biology) qualifies for A1 speedy. The first two contains more than enough context - the subject is a film by an Indian director who's famous - and indeed who, it turns out, has an Wikipedia article. The third one is a totally valid stub - by an established editor, no less. Please go over WP:CSD again; WP:FIELD and WP:WIHSD may also be helpful. Tim Song (talk) 06:16, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
CSD
Hello. 800 lb. Gorilla (band) has been nominated for speedy deletion under criterion A7—it's an article about a band, but it doesn't say why the band is notable. For an article to qualify for speedy deletion, it doesn't have to establish notability (in other words, it doesn't need to have sources), it merely has to assert notability.
As you know, A7 is just one of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you're not sure whether an article qualifies for CSD, PROD it. You can use a summary of "questionable notability" if that's your concern. You can also try to Google the subject to see whether you get any meaningful hits.
I hope this helps. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 23:35, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

- The other signature is still massive and contains a lot of code that is, in essence, doing nothing or nothing noticeable. Removing it would help users with slow connections a lot, and it would clear up editing as there wouldn't be as much code. Italic titles?
Has {{italictitle}} been approved as part of WP naming conventions? If so, it would seem that many, many articles have to be updated. Doing it without a consensus will leave WP inconsistent and doing it by hand will be tedious... — John Cardinal (talk) 00:38, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Adoption
Hello, and thank you for the offer. May I ask what drew you to my account for adoption? What are your core beliefs? Have you reviewed my recent edits, and the controversy behind them? I ask because I want to make sure i know what I am getting into, and to make sure you know what you are getting into. I had a sig like yours, and other editors complained... Neuromancer (talk) 04:48, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Tell you more about the editors that have had a problem with me? Well, I have been accused of POV pushing, even though that is not what I think it is. I feel that a number of articles are presented from a biased POV, and I was trying, through very meticulous, well referenced, and eloquent edits, to change that. When that didn't work, I attempted to create a new article to include information which was not welcome by other editors of the article. They disliked the info so much, they nominated for deletion, and then ganged up to vote off WP. Neuromancer (talk) 07:34, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Lead section???
I created a page of the NHRA's 2010 season for next year 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Season and you marked it as needing a lead section. Why does it need a lead section if it's going to be linked to the National Hot Rod Association article next year??? I created a similar page for this year's season 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Season and it is linked to the National Hot Rod Association and didn't require a Lead section. It's simply charts of the season schedule, their results, and driver point standings. TBird100636 (talk) 00:22, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Infobox generator
It's interesting, but I don't see how it saves that much work. I'm content with using the current infobox generator, and everything else doesn't really take that long to do; besides, I usually have to fix a few things in the infobox generator, so I'd still have to look over all of the articles. It's not a bad concept though, and if you developed the whole thing into an automated process (something like what User:Ram-Man used to create all the U.S. city articles) I would probably be more interested. - Hi again. The redirect page was being categorized by the link. Putting ":" (without quotation marks) in front of the namespace forces the piped link to be only a link. For example, you can use the same trick to stop an image from transcluding. E.g.: [[:Image:Example.jpg]] comes out as Image:Example.jpg. Hope that helps! Cheers, m.o.p 02:30, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
