RE: Future dates in players' infoboxes
Hey. Do you have an example? My practice is to list 2021 (the year of transfer being announced) unless it is specified they won't join until January 1, 2022 (for the Charlotte FC instance, for example). Might've not followed that along the way though, perhaps. Apologies! UncleTupelo1 (talk) 19:15, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- I too would like some clarification on why you are making these changes. The consensus has long been to list 2022 as the starting year for a player that transfers during the winter transfer window (e.g. if a transfer were announced today December 27, 2021, we would still list the year in the inbox as "2022-" because that is when the player will actually transfer and begin playing). I noticed this first with Josh Bauer (soccer) but you appear to be making a lot of changes against established consensus. Jay eyem (talk) 23:10, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
The 'hidden advice' was left in Turksh at the page n the hope that the Turkish IP-hoppng editor who has been dsrupting the page for several months would actually take notice of it. I note you have reverted most of their edits of today. If they follow their usual pattern they will simply redo them from yet another IP, someone else will revert and so on. Ah! Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep a look out for it. Seems like a strange thing that they keep editing, eh? They seem to love overlinking and not updating time stamps. Ha! Thanks, again. Anwegmann (talk) 21:49, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- Good thanks! The more editors with an eye on it the better. Matty has blocked the IP address you reverted (and possbly the one before it as well) but only for 31 hours. There's nothng to stop them returning even within that period from another IP and 'round we go again'. A range block may be one solution but identcal edits have been made from other ranges and rnages can usually only be blocked for shorter periods as there's often collateral damage... BTW I did not see your reply till now... are you aware of WP:PING? Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 21:00, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
