Sir, user:Utcursch is not really mediating. He tried to help and adviced Vishu123 to not use Marathi language citations as English language citations should be used on English wikipedia. Vishu123 has ignored this advice on multiple articles (Chalukya, Rashtrakuta, Western Chalukyas). Blnguyen has adviced him that Marathi language self translations should be avoided and also that snippets (even in English) dont convey any context to a citation (which I have cut and paste at bottom of Blnguyen's talk page) which again Vishu123 has ignored. Vishu123 is again making his own rules on articles Chalukya, Rashtrakuta and Seuna which are being modified at abandon. He is also using constant abuse at me, which I can cut and paste. He has abused Kannada language yesterday on my talk page. He has removed a valid English citation I had put on Maratha Empire and removed all valid tags on an article with absolutely no citations (excepting the one I put in). Things are slowly heading the wrong way unless you act fast. Vishu123 has to play by the rules of wikipedia, even if they are informal and learn to respect admins/senior users.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 16:05, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

cause of whole issue--Need to come clear

Sir, as you are aware, I was not involved in any of the squabbles that Vishu123(Itihaas, Sarvabhaum, Mrtag, MikaNalin) was involved in. He came out of the blue and tried to discredit me on my Hoysala Empire FA review. You are aware of this. When his statements did not hold water and the article became a FA anyway, I believe his jealousy/inferiority complex got the better of him and he started to come after my articles. Being unable to find English language citations to support his theories, he started to use snippets and Marathi citations which he has been adviced not to. I dont believe he is here to follow rules. He is here to make rules. If this problem is not resolved here, it will spread like wildfire. He holds a personal grudge against me and will not hesitate to stoop to any level to achieve his goal. If the admins of wikipedia dont show him the way, he will make a mockery of wikipedia, which can only stand to loose good contributors and gain trouble makers like Vishu123. Sincerely, thanks.Dineshkannambadi 20:05, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

First of all Mr.Kannambadi is labelling anything and everything as kannada. He is using nonsensical partisan books of unknown authors to paint wikipedia in kannada colours. I have proved him that Google books are allowed in wikipedia yet this arrogant editor is not budging. Marathi books are very much accepted as their english counterparts are not available. He is blatantly removing cited information in chalukyas rashtrakutas and yadavas. yadavas are pure Maratha empire proved by my zillions of citations (see history). 06:47, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your support

Thank you for your support in the RfA on my behalf. It is an honor to have received your expression of confidence. To be chosen as an administrator requires a high level of confidence by a broad section of the community. Although I received a great deal of support, at this time I do not hold the level of confidence required, and the RfA did not pass. It is my wish that I will continue to deserve your confidence. (sorry for the "form letter") Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 20:56, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Your ill-comments

I guess ur the one who blocked me before on Mr.Kannambadi's behest. You are free to verify my edits since everything is based on citations. I will never allow others to play with Mahrashtra's glorious past. Ur comments on Mr.Kannambadi's page are unfortunate, unwarranted and irresponsible. He is removing cited information and displaying intellectual elitism. I have myself tried to sort out the things and even credited his authors at Yadavas of devagiri page.

He says Google books are not allowed, answer is this, he says Marathi books are not allowed answer is this. I have spended 500-600 Rs to get books spend many days in library to unfold the truth. I will not allow everyone to disrupt our history and culture. Ask Mr.Kannambadi to stop removing cited info at once. Vishu123 06:59, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Reply, I dont understand why this user Vishu123 says the eqvivalent English books are not available, I guess he means the equivalent books of the same authors are not available. But I have referenced and quoted from 6 well known English Language authors for Chalukyas and 4 for Rashtrakutas along with their ISBN/OCLC number. Non-English books are probably acceptable if no info on the subject exists in English. When it does exist in English, then why use regional books meant for a regional audience, not a global audience. Wikipedia is flexible but not at the cost of quality. The link provided by Vishu123 clearly states that English books and citations are preferred. What does "Preferred" mean?. To me it means more acceptable. How can one have a more acceptable citation in English be contradicted by a less acceptable citation from Marathi books. thanks.Dineshkannambadi 16:04, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Might want to know

Hi, I am writing about the user, Himalayanashoka, who was blocked for 48 hours last night for a 3RR violation. This user has a long history of vandalism and sockpuppetry on the India page. You had blocked him for sockpuppetry in December 2006. Well, this morning I noticed that 3 new users had appeared who seemed to be making the same kind of edits and writing in the same quaint style. These are: HomzUmrigar , Shyamasundara Vetrivel and MazharUbaid. Two of these user pages were created this morning and the third on December 30 (perhaps in anticipation of the battle). They are all making the kind of bold edits that beginners seldom make. Thought I'd let you know. I have also written to admin William Connolly who blocked him last night. Vishu123

Sir, Vishu123 is now making anon edits. Please put an "anon lock" on Gangas, Kadambas, Rashtrakuta, Chalukya dynasty, Western Chalukyas, Vijayanagara Empire.

User:Mrtag

User:Mrtag claims that s/he is not User:Sarvabhaum. I had a look at their contributions and at first look, they don't seem to be similar. I wonder if we should assume good faith and unblock User:Mrtag account. utcursch | talk 12:18, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Sir, I am now being taunted by this person on my user page (anon that he is right now) with regards to the Vijayanagara Empire article. Can you advice him not to do so. It is clear that he is following the articles I am working on and this makes me feel very uncomfortable, especially after the FAC review he tried to obstruct. thanks.Dineshkannambadi 22:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I have cut and paste the message he left on my user talk page below.Dineshkannambadi 22:46, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Shamesless groupism. Any rationale whatsoever for removing my info? Any justification for not adding Marathi inscription thing. The fool as u r,see the Vijaynagara empire,ur actions are bringing bad name to ur state and language! Get rid of ur kannada inferiority complex!! Adding Marathi Yadavas or Telugu/Tulu Vijayanagara empire to kannada will not make ur Karnataka great! Cheap loser that u r.Stop this foolish tactics. 59.95.15.185 06:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

As directed by you, the (totally) rewritten article has been taken to deletion review. Thank you again for your help on this (and the barnstar). John Broughton | Talk 00:53, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I'm pretty pleased with how the process went - that I didn't misjudge the situation, and that I helped add a pretty good article to Wikipedia.
You may find this humorous - I do, to some extent, myself - but when I started re-creating the article, I thought it might get to "Good Article" status, if not even better. I that it was when I saw a newspaper article commenting that attendance at one of the festivals was 150 people [unclear if for the day or entire festival] that I realized that while Pablo is quite an interesting fellow and his festivals are no trivial accomplishment, in fact they aren't earthshaking and the article wasn't going to get past 10 paragraphs or so. Perhaps in five or ten or fifteen years, if he continues to do interesting things, this will be a Featured Article, and people will be surprised at how comprehensive the information is on his early life. Or not. (At this point, I'm ready to move on.) John Broughton | 14:07, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Vijayanagara Empire peer review - Obstruction

Sir, the same person who tried to obstruct my Hoysala Empire FAC has attempted to damage the Peer review of the above mentioned article. I have cut and paste his message on the Peer review discussion page.

Hi it may look that I am taking a revenge against Mr.Kannambadi but i really want to give my opinion for the sake of respect of history. I own a reference text about ancient India which is based on bibliography and not original research which is prescribed by Nagpur university and as ref by Pune university. (Bharatacha Itihaas by Dr.Kolarkar) It doesnt have a word about Kannada in it(in Vijayanagara empire section). It talks about growth and enrichment of Telugu language only. So probably like other articles this article is fallen prey to regional chauvinism of few editors. 59.95.20.149 11:20, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

A very Californian RfA thanks from Luna Santin

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of (97/4/4)! I've never been able to accept compliments gracefully, and the heavy support from this outstanding community left me at a complete loss for words -- so, a very belated thank you for all of your kind words.

I have done and will continue to do the utmost to serve the community in this new capacity, wherever it may take me, and to set an example others might wish to follow in. With a little luck and a lot of advice, this may be enough. Maybe someday the enwiki admins of the future will look back and say, "Yeah, that guy was an admin." Hopefully then they don't start talking about the explosive ArbComm case I got tied into and oh what a drama that was, but we'll see, won't we?

Surely some of you have seen me in action by now; with that in mind, I openly invite and welcome any feedback here or here -- help me become the best editor and sysop I can be.

Again, thank you. –Luna Santin

Query regarding names in other languages

Hello Aksi,

I have been having a discussion with a fellow editor over here and we seem to disagree about whether or not to put Sunita Williams' name in Hindi on her page. I have been arguing against putting her Hindi name, because Williams is a citizen-by-birth of the USA (please see the aforementioned talk page for more details). Her Indian link is through her father who was an Indian immigrant. Just for the sake of uniformity and for future reference, I would like to know if it is appropriate to include names in the native tongue of people who are the second (or generally, nth) generation offprings of immigrants.

I would appreciate your opinion on this. Is there any WP rule/guideline that can throw more light on the issue? I read this and this, but couldn't find a lot of relevant information.

Thanks, Max 11:56, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

FYI: Your 1-week block of Users Szhaider, Nadirali, and Unre4L

Hi, For your information, since you figured in this posting, I thought I'd let you know that I posted the following on Rama's Arrow's talk page:

Dear Rama's Arrow, As someone who has done battle on occasion with all three users, I nonetheless feel that your recent week-long blocks of them, especially the latter two, are a little heavy-handed and over the top. I feel that they should have been given more warning, and perhaps slapped with 24-hour, or 48-hour or even 3-day blocks first. I went back and re-read WP:NPA, especially the following, which I'm sure you well know:

In light of the above caution, I actually went through Unre4L's "contributions" log between the time you gave him a warning on his talk page and the time you issued a 1-week block. Although, I am sure you have your reasons for blocking him/her, I personally couldn't find anything that disruptive, and feel that the 1-week block is extreme punishment for the crime at hand. I am not asking for your reasons, but simply that two neutral administrators (like say Dbachmann, Nichalp (if he is not too busy), Saravask, Ragib, or Aksi_great) review the blocks, especially those of users Nadirali and Unre4L. Thanks! Regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 11:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi

Hi, A person you had blocked for 2-months in early January (here), is now back on the talk India page, and the "sock puppet" was banned for 48 hours for ad hominem attacks on me (see here). I am a little confused, but this user is editing the page "with the help of licensed Wikiaide" as he puts it (see here). As a result of his ad hominem attacks, admin Dbachmann has spent quite some time deleting obscenities from the page. Please take a look at the sockpuppet's contributions for the personal attacks. Thanks. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 12:50, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Aksi, Sorry to bother you again, but he now has another sockpuppet User:Usereco987654 who just made edit on the India page identical to the ones made in the past by user:Himalayanashoka. Thanks and regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:53, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi Aksi, Is there any chance that the India page can be semi-protected? The problem is that user:Himalayanashoka who you permbanned, is now appearing as all kinds of sockpuppets and as IP. Two sockpuppets seen this morning were: user:HimalayanSnow (who was banned later) and user:HimalayanRise, who I reported to WP:AIV, but who is still around. Between that and user:Paul Raj (who is trolling by adding "Ayyawazhi" to the demographics section of India in spite of numerous discussions with Nichalp, BostonMA, etc (see Talk India page)), the India page shows the vandal's (and troll's) version more often than it does the correct version. Conundrum

Hi Aksi,

I am almost at the end of my tether with bickering on the Talk:India page. A number of editors, some well-intentioned (like user:Indianstar and user:AJ-India) and others of uncertain intentions (like user:Sarvagnya) would like to add (or, have already added and which I then reverted) various portions of text to many sections of the India page, an FA. These proposed edits, all initially made by user:Indianstar are not minor (i.e. they are of the size of a small paragraph), and they have not been discussed before. I have tried to start discussion going on the Talk:India page, for example: see Example1, or Example2 (the title of this section has been changed retroactively by user:Sarvagnya from "History section" to "Fowler's High-handed Reverts"). The problem as I see it is that the edits are either controversial, or cover old ground, or too listy. I get the feeling that these editors are not really interested in discussing the issues because they keep accusing me of "making a mountain out of molehill" or semantic obfuscation. Their view is that their edits are common-sense and 1 or 2 KB or text is no problem, and that no time should be wasted on discussion, especially elaborate discussion like mine. Here is an example of some responses: Example3 and Example4. In the background, user:Sarvagnya seems to be egging on the other editors to go ahead and add the reverted material again before the discussion is complete. I am trying to hold on until Nichalp returns from his vacation on February 4, but in light of user:Sarvagnya's unmitigated hostility, I am concerned. She/He has used uncivil language consistently. Here are some examples of language directed at me:

  1. "Will someone do me a favour by drilling it into his skull ..."
  2. "hiding behind an admin to justify juvenile editing practices ..."
  3. "Just improve it. Dammit."

In spite of my civil reminder to desist (see here), she/he has continued with his uncivil language and earlier today she/he changed the title of the discussion section retroactively from "History Section" to "Fowler's High-handed Reverts". (The discussion section incidentally had been started by me.) I am trying to keep my cool, but it is frustrating to hear such language consistently, when most of me, judging from the level sophistication of her/his writing, is itching to say something. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 20:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Wow! Another mischevous act of misrepresentation of my stand by Fowler. Anyway first things first. Talking of decorum or the lack of it on my part that Fowler seems to be harping on, may I remind him that he has called me a vandal for no reason other than his own ignorance of the rules.

His condescending edit summaries, couple of which I have pointed out on the India talk page, smack of unbridled contempt for the efforts of other editors; not to mention his ignorance of several WP policies.

And indulging in revert after revert after revert without any explanation whatsoever is like dealing a slap on the other editors face with scant respect for his/her efforts. Forget simple reverts, for someone who acts so very 'holier-than-thou', did he even bother to let people know before he rolled the page back two months?!

Its one thing to play to a gallery of admins and another to not lose sight of objectivity. He royally betrays his misplaced priorities at every step. He seems not to or not willing to understand that issues like style, formatting, grammar, article size etc., are NOT excuses to blank content or roll pages back two months!!

For example, there was this content about G4 and India's bid for a permanent seat that Indianstar had added. A bid for the permanent seat is an extremely significant and notable fact about India as is its space programme and its nuclear programme. So says commonsense. But not Fowler. He simply goes ahead and blanks it out offering no explanation other than another of his ill informed edit summaries(rv content that was added without discussion!!).

And when other editors decide that they will brook no more nonsense and demand an explanation of him, he comes back and sheepishly says that Indianstar's version was too wordy and that he'd have no objection if the same was mentioned more concisely as they've done on Japan!! So in effect, he has blanked out(vandalised??) content which even he agrees with, simply because the fact wasnt worded well??! What does he think he's doing! Has he even heard of cpedit?

And it is not like I am taking exception to his reverts because I have some sinister agenda. I've observed his editing behaviour since the last two months. And I see a disturbing and disruptive pattern and that is precisely why I've said what I've said. Its not like I am against every revert he does. Some, like the one he did today(the Afghan historian one) are certainly justified. But such ones are very few and far between considering that he has dozens of reverts to his name (counting just just this one article) in the short time that he's been on WP.

Sample the facts that he's blanked out:

  • India's bid for a permanent seat
  • India's nuclear capability
  • India's successful space programme. and many many many more.

Explanations offered : NONE. None until fellow editors took him to task. Sarvagnya 21:14, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

as you were involved in the archived AN/I discussion about User:Rumpelstiltskin223, i thought it would be appropriate to bring to your attention recent findings in the above RFCU concerning RS and the use of open proxies. regards, ITAQALLAH 21:13, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

  • may i also draw your attention to India Rising (talk · contribs)? the account was created around the time RS was getting frequent 3RR blocks, and his activity spiked on Jan 30/31 (and has been extremely active since), which is when RS had been given a week block by User:Wizardman. furthermore, IR edits on the same kinds of articles (e.g. [1][2][3]), and seemingly from the same point of view. Hi - although I endorse the block, I've unprotected Rumpel's talkpage to make sure he can comment if he wants, on this. Rama's arrow 15:26, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Yes I will be soon :), I am humbled by your support in my rfa. Cheers and thanks again! Another thing I am not used to is adding T5, I have to remind myself every block. ~ Arjun 16:28, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
