As it has been noticed that Ashok Mittal has not earned an academic PhD degree using Dr. before his name creates confusion especially since he is now a member of the upper house of Indian parliament.

One may get perplexed at sentences like :

Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal is law graduate from Guru Nanak Dev University.

Either Dr. should be removed or it should be mentioned that it is honoris causa.

By convention, the title Dr. is not to be used by the recipients (honoris causa) in the broader community. At best, they can use it while corresponding with the degree awarding institution. All these conventions are perhaps unknown to the people concerned.

[1]

According to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Abbreviations § Contractions also contracted titles such as Dr. and St generally should not be used but may apply in some contexts (e.g., quoted material, place names, titles of works).

Primary sources and self-published sources.

[edit]

Ashok Mittal

I would be grateful if anyone could please point out where the article has references to Primary sources and self-published sources so that necessary corrections could be made.

At some places relevant LPU sites have been referenced just to help verify the facts from the original web page itself, like who is the current Chancellor can be verified only from the University webpage itself.

Are corporate websites/ University websites self-published sources? They provide the most updated information, like if chancellor is changed it will first of all be updated in university website only. After all such references 'secondary sources' have been referenced as well.

Primary sources are original materials that are close to an event, and are often accounts written by people who are directly involved. I could find nowhere where reference is given to any account written by Ashok Mittal or LPU itself.

Also, Is the file https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ashok_Mittal_LPU.png uploadable on wikipedia? It was removed, but is still there on telugu version of the page. Awsib (talk) 15:48, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, please do not use Hindi writing on English Wikipedia. Instead, write articles/content in Hindi on Hindi Wikipedia. TheManInTheBlackHat (Talk) 16:43, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was just trying to create a Hindi page, as the subject is from a Hindi speaking region. Had no idea it has to created in Hindi wikipedia. A English page already exits. Sorry for lack of information. Also, even before I attempted adding details and references , it was deleted.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sapna Awasthi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jaanwar. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
