Possible M's peer review
What would you think of a peer review system at WikiProject Mariners? I think it would be a good idea so we work for the promotion of many articles like Ken Griffey, Jr. and Ichiro. As far as I can tell, we are the only two active members of the project. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 04:15, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Please can you cite the article on yahoo sports that confirms he has signed for Bolton. Thanks. Quentin X (talk) 21:52, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Estrada's number
Where are you getting that Estrada's number is going to be 9? I haven't been able to locate anything on the Sounders website that would indicate it. --Bobblehead (rants) 17:50, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- No prob. I left a note on Seabear's talk page to see where he's getting his info from as well. Thanks for getting back to me. --Bobblehead (rants) 17:55, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Reference Reliability
I also posted this on the MLS transfer talk page but I just wanted to also send it to you here.
I would refrain from using such web sites as "Goal.com" as the reference for transfers. Goal is simply a gossip website and they are known to exaggerate headlines and claim transfers as official when they actually aren't true. It is a fun website to read and it is useful as a starting point. Again, it is not reliable enough a site to use as primary evidence for a transfer.
Also (just a sidenote), do not use the "Edit Summary" field in the Editing page section as a conversation tool. Wikipedia has created this Talk section for a reason. Thanks. Acmilan10italia (talk) 10:48, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I was primarily trying to explain to you that using "Goal.com" as a source is insufficient. Secondly, please use the discussion sections to converse with other editors on Wikipedia, rather than using the "Edit Summary" field when editing. I hope that clears things up. Acmilan10italia (talk) 19:16, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Edit summaries should be short, sweet, and quick summaries of what changes you have made. In your summary you wrote, "You should've seen on that reference that Neilson still needs to go through a medical so that transfer has been removed." The way that the summary was directed towards someone since "you" was written qualifies that as a conversation. Acmilan10italia (talk) 19:23, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Rauwshan McKenzie Edit
Sorry to bother you again. Please check the talk page of the 2010 MLS transfers page for more info on a Rauwshan McKenzie edit that you made. Thanks for your time. Acmilan10italia (talk) 03:16, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

I just fixed some misspellings and added a footy stub so that others on Wiki will know that the page exists. They will then be able to help expand the article. Otherwise continue the good work on the transfer page. We seem to be the only 2 wikipedians actually making edits so that's good.
Also, I think the Jimmy Nielsen transfer is now complete. I saw it on the KC Wizards official page. Should we add him now? Acmilan10italia (talk) 03:24, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Mariners' minor leaguers
Are you suggesting moving the players into there own article space? --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 01:42, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Anyone specific? We should also create articles for any M's Baseball America top prospects that haven't been created yet. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 03:18, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Nothing seems wrong with that, but you should find sources to cite for some of the players so they meet WP:WPBB/N. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 04:55, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

USMNT Roster
Hello Mike. I'm the dude that edited the USMNT today, what I did is that I organized the RCU by position, then by caps, number and finally, last name. The same way most NT pages are organized (granted, a lot of them were organized by myself). I just think that way is easier to manage for pretty much any editor and it's easier to read. And about the squad names (Mainly Seattle Sounders and Hertha Berlin) well, I think the FC is redundant, we know they are football clubs so I went with a shorter with the former and the more well known version of the name with the later. I admit that's more of a pet peeve of mine, but it doesn't really affect anything so I rolled that way. Anyway, I hope I explained myself well, cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.252.103.226 (talk) 06:00, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Oh, and about Cody Cropper, I just thought that it was better to point out he wasn't on the main Southampton team just like someone else did with Joe Gyau, that's why it's Southampton Academy. Again, cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.252.103.226 (talk) 06:06, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
MLS Player Profiles
I'm sending this message in case you didn't get my reply in regards to your comment on association football midfielders.
I replied... On the contrary, the midfield position can be associated with either association football, futsal, or "Australian rules" (if you check Wikipedia). It is therefore necessary to include association football. Acmilan10italia (talk) 00:12, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Ryan Johnson
Please do not move pages without proper discussion. If it was non controversial it would be fine, but seeing as someone objects (me) you cannot move it just because you want to. Ryan Johnson is an American, he grew up here and plays soccer on an American team. To move the page just because he was born in Jamaica is not an excuse. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:09, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- What's your point? You have no consensus to move the page. He also plays for an American team, not to mention he has lived in America for most of his life and has been here since a young age. Immigrants do not randomly use spellings of where they came from. If a British person moved to America when he was five, he would still use American spellings, etc. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:14, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- He's also an American citizen. I'm going to move the page back. If you would like to gain consensus for the move you are more than welcome to. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:18, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- He played what three games or so for them? He has been an everyday player for American teams since 2002. If there is support for the move fine, but you need to get consensus first. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:23, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Keith Fahey
Hello. Do you have a source for Keith Fahey playing exactly two games for Ireland under-20? I know his FIFA stats page mentions only the two appearances in the 2003 U-20 World Cup, but I can't find anything to verify those being his only appearances at that level. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:49, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Hey, just a heads-up. Stats aren't supposed to be updated until the all-star break and the end of the season. The discussion can be found here. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 19:15, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- What? Why did they agree to do it that way? You aren't going to revert my edits are you, cause I would just leave those edits as it is until the break or the end of the season. – Michael 21:51, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- No, I'm not reverting your edits. I don't like it either. Maybe you should bring it up. It doesn't seem to be an issue they should make a guideline for. It seems like they're making policy to make policy. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 00:34, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Stats in infoboxes
Hi Mike. I just got an angry message from User:Katydidit because you restored stats that he deleted from Ichiro Suzuki's infobox. I just wanted you to be aware of this past discussion, which says that Triple Crown stats should be listed unless specific justification can be provided for listing others. Taijuan Walker
Right now, I would say no. I haven't seen sufficient sources to satisfy WP:GNG. However, after he makes his professional debut in the minors, it would defiantly be acceptable to make a section on Seattle Mariners minor league players. After a year or so, there would probably be broad coverage on him so an article could be made then. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 20:27, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Capitalization in infobox
Per WP:HEAD, only the first word of a heading should be capitalized unless it is a proper noun, which Win-loss record is not. The heading in an infobox is the same as a heading in an article. Just because other articles are one way does not mean all articles need to be that way. Actually, they all should be of the form "Win-loss". We don't write "Runs Batted In" or "Earned Run Average". It's the same principle for wins/losses. — X96lee15 (talk) 18:53, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

M's minor league players
Hey, now that it's the off-season I have been going around seeing if there are any good articles to create for players in the Mariners' minor league organization. I think I got most of the notable ones (i.e. Brian Moran (baseball), Ji-Man Choi, Erasmo Ramírez (right-handed pitcher)). But maybe we could move some out of the Seattle Mariners minor league players page to article space. I know that Johermyn Chávez is one who could survive. Other than that, I'm not sure. We could also write bios for some borderline cases, such as Taijuan Walker (who we discussed previously) to put in the minor league players page. I would even say that Walker could have his own page, but it may violate WP:ONEEVENT since most of his coverage came from the draft. Let me know if you're interested in this possible mini-project. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 00:53, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- The Mariners' WikiProject seems to be pretty dead. I'm not sure there will be a very good source for discussion. Shame. Good idea with the sandbox article on Walker. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 02:16, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- The project page was created a while ago by some pretty ambitious editors, but the idea seemed to fade away. The founder is now retired, and every other user seems to be disinterested or inactive. I attempted to take charge a while back, but you were the only recruit I could get. User:Albacore is a newer member, though. So it seems like us three makes up the entire WikiProject. Maybe some outreach would help. Do you know of any M's fans or Seattle-based editors who may be interested? --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 02:22, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- I re-created the project page. If you could, take a look and give me input. Be bold in editing the project page, too. I started a collaboration idea on the talk page. Input there would also be appreciated. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 06:22, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

MLB player profiles
See WT:BASEBALL. The 2011 season hasn't started so we dont know if they will actually play a game in 2011. "2011-present" sounded weird and didn't make sense especially when we were in 2010. Just using common sense. TL565 (talk) 22:30, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Corey Attaway
I noticed that you created his profile today; this is apropos of nothing really, but I just thought I'd share a funny story with you. When Orange County Blue Star played Hollywood United in the PDL last summer, Attaway was on the Blue Star team. I was in the press box with the Hollywood announcer, and at one point during the game Attaway disposessed one of our midfielders with a really good tackle - so our announcer got on the microphone and shouted "Attaboy, Attaway!" - which made everybody jump, and made Attaway tread on the ball and fall over! Just made me think of it :) Keep up all the good work on the new players, man. You're doing an excellent job. --JonBroxton (talk) 09:58, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Seattle Sounders roster
Hi, I'm confused why you undid my edit deleting Caskey and Morris from the roster. The club issued a press release which stated that "SuperDraft choice Alex Caskey, supplemental pick Sean Morris and invitees Edouard Kabamba, Cole Peverley and Jesus Gonzalez are no longer training with the club" and the Seattle Times reported those players' absence as "camp roster trimmed." The club can't announce that these players have been released because they don't have contracts. http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=4147747
Also, while unofficial, the Sounder at Heart blog notes that "...Morris was a Seattle University product who is now on trial with the Montreal Impact of the NASL. Both players [Caskey, too] will now be exposed to waivers. If no team picks them up and offers them a contract, the Sounders would retain their rights for a year under the recently announced roster rules." Bubbagump24 (talk) 20:28, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Seattle Sounders FC is a Major League Soccer (MLS) team based in Seattle, Washington that plays its home matches at Qwest Field. It was established in November 2007 as an MLS expansion team. The league's 15th team; Sounders FC played the first match of its inaugural season on March 19, 2009. During their first two seasons every home game was sold out, they set a new MLS record for average match attendance, and they sold the most season tickets in the league. Seattle finished both seasons with a winning record and qualified for the MLS playoffs. In 2009 Sounders FC became the second expansion team in MLS history to win the U.S. Open Cup, and in 2010 became the first ever MLS team to repeat as Open Cup champions. Fans selected the Sounders name for the club through an online poll in 2008, making the Seattle Sounders FC the third Seattle soccer team to bear the moniker. (more...)
