From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I guess I'm back.

FWIW, I take my wiki name from "Nemo" (meaing "No Man") and Noman (meaning "No Man").

Odysseus tells the Cyclops his name is "No Man" -- so when the cyclops is blinded he calls to his brothers "No man has hurt me!", and his brothers call back -- SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM??!

Nemo comes from Captain Nemo of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, not Finding Nemo.

Clarifications

[edit]

Neutral Point of View:

  • Wikipedia articles must be neutral in their point of view.
  • The sources cited in Wikipedia articles are not required to be neutral.

Reliable Sources

  • Sources cited in Wikipedia articles must be reliable.
  • However, "the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth, that is, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether we think it is true."

To summarize:

  1. Article content must be neutral, but not necessarily "true".
  2. Sources must be reliable and verifiable, but not necessarily "neutral".

As Casey Stengel used to say: You could look it up.

I am humbled to receive these honors.

For the record

[edit]

It is true: I have an unpleasant personality.

This user is
unpleasant.

Although there are no reliable sources to cite to validate this fact, it's all too true. And although there are no reliable sources, any editor can verify the statement quickly and easily: Just leave a message on my talk page.

How can you proove that you are not spreading Christian/Western agenda here? --Holy Ganga 21:56, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

I can state, but not prove, that I am not Christian, at least not in a formal sense, and therefore not compelled to an agenda which is essentially meaningless to me.
My only conscious agenda is the pursuit of accuracy. Ifthat is a Western agenda, then our world is sorry place. I would hope that non-Westerners also embrace that agenda. In the articles I have edited, however, political agendae and emotion run so high that accuracy and neutrality is regarded as "unpleasant" and not "tolerant" .So maybe the world is a sorry place.User:nemonoman 12:56, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Your approach here is truely reflecting your unpleasant personality!--Holy Ganga 21:56, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

For example: Apparently opinions are supposed to trump facts, right down to place of birth

Yes, this is what it has come to. I can't stand it...

What is a conflict of interest?

[edit]

See WP:COI for more details, but I found this very helpful:

  • 3. A sure sign of a COI is an editor who edits only one topic area, especially if the same editor also says quite openly that they think Wikipedia and its policies are useless. --JN466 04:24, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

My own conflict of interest: Meher Baba

[edit]

I have been a follower of Meher Baba for many years, and I am certain that my affection for the man and his teachings affects my editing of that article and other articles associated with him. Have got myself 3RR blocked more than once trying to keep ugly shit out of articles associated with Meher Baba. And I would do it again
