From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My complete name is Dr. Ralph W. Bastedo.

First, I should explain that I ALSO appear in various Wikipedia records as "Bastedo,PhD" (c.2011), "Prof.Bastedo" (c.2016), and by other name-tags, as I have had difficulty in remembering so many computer passwords. You see, I have worked with computers since 1969, and so my memory is therefore now cluttered with a lot of cyber-numeric nonsense. Relatedly, I cautioned colleagues at Princeton University about the "Y2K" problem in the middle 1970s, but nobody back then paid me any attention.

My academic degrees were earned in the social/ behavioral sciences and quantitative methodology. I graduated with honors from Princeton University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

I have taught and lectured on a wide range of subjects:

At colleges and universities I have taught Public Opinion Research, Ancient & Medieval History, Political Science, the major religions, Sociology, Scientific Methods of Inquiry, college-entry English Vocabulary, Political Psychology, Computing/ Statistics, and college-level Study Skills.

As a result, I subsequently published scientific journal articles on public opinion, in political linguistics, employing psychophysical measurement, and debunking astrology/ horoscopes (the latter analysis which won praise from Dr. Isaac Asimov).

Independently, I also edited a small newspaper on Long Island history, an econometrics textbook, and a daily university newspaper, and then went on to co-found a labor union (G.S.E.U., which is now a member of the New York State A.F.L.-C.I.O.).

At one time, I ran the National Museum of Ceramic Art in downtown Baltimore. I also supervised scientific research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and -- before that -- at The Gallup Poll in Princeton.

I am retired now, but I increasingly have disabilities --- including Alzheimer's Disease of the Brain. So please, please, please, bear with my oddities and eccentricities --- particularly since I am no longer able to keep up with all the many updates and revisions in Wiki.

Yet, during my retirement, I have given a public seminar on "The Pre-Cambrian Tree of Life" and have won awards for my years of work both with children and the Democratic Party.

For the public I have created educational exhibits: explaining "What is a Fossil?"; showing how Archeozoic and Proterozoic cyanobacteria produced our planet's oxygen; exhibiting replica Primitive Hominid Skulls with their corresponding Paleolithic tools; displaying stony meteorites, tektites, iron-nickel meteorites, & glassy impactites; and displaying authentic "Stone-Age Tools from when the Sahara was Green."

On Facebook, I now currently publish opinion, analysis, comedic material, civic publicity, unusual photos, and movie reviews.

At no time in my life, I am cheerful to relate, have I ever been arrested or jailed, ever succumbed to narcotics or alcoholism, ever hit a female, and very rarely have I ever employed profanity or cuss-words in public. Quite regrettably, however, during my life I also never earned an above-average income, I never got married, and I never begot any children.
