The Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities (AULNU) formally known as Committee of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities (CULNU) was established in 1972/1973 , is aimed as providing opportunity for members to discuss the forum for discussing matters of formulating policies relating to university libraries in Nigeria and advising relevant bodies on library and information services. Membership of the Association is open to all university libraries in Nigeria .[1]
History
[edit]The Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities (AULNU) was established in 1972/1973 as the Committee of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities . It's name was changed in 2015 during the Association's 98th Bi-annual meeting at the Covenant University Ota , Ogun State .[2] With the foundation membership of six from the first generation university, it was taken as a section of the Nigerian Library Association . With increase in membership to include all university libraries in Nigeria , AULNU was constituted exist like such bodies as Conference of University Libraries (SCONUL) in Great Britain and Committee of Vice-Chancellors in Nigeria . The Association which aimed at discussing and formulating policies relating to university libraries as well as advising or bodies on matters relating to librarianship and information science meets twice yearly within which professional discussions, seminars and workshops are provided for .
