A Short Introduction
[edit]
I've been active on the English Wikipedia project for a little longer, and even longer on the German Wikipedia project de:Benutzer:Afromme. So here finally goes my en:Username...
Very briefly... I was born in 1978, am in the final stage of my studies in computer science (gained my Bachelor degree in early 2005). In addition to this, I have also been working as a professional translator for a while now.
I'm a member of the German Wikipedia since June 29 2005, and a member of the English Wikipedia since September 8 2006.
See User:Afromme/Projects. Not much happening there at the moment.
My favourite Bugbear is actually about the special German letter ß. It's a character that - following a long vowel - substitutes what would otherwise be spelled as 'ss'. As in 'Fußball' (football). However, there is no capital version of that character, which means that the ß needs to be replaced by 'SS' when writing a word in all capital letters. So 'Fußball' becomes 'FUSSBALL', not 'FUßBALL'. Mind you, I'm not just being pedantic about how to and how not to spell stuff. It's just that DREHVERSCHLUß, FUßBALL etc. look awful.
Not too cool, either
