Trans Metro Pasundan, simplify TMP is a transit bus system in the Bandung metropolitan area, West Java, Indonesia. This service is part of the Teman Bus Buy-the-Service (BTS)

purchasing program initiated by the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation. The system began operation on 21 December 2021, with its inauguration six days later.[1] TMP is operated by the state-owned Perum DAMRI and Big Bird, a subsidiary of Blue Bird Group.

Fares

[edit]

Early in its operation, Trans Metro Pasundan was free of charge, but passengers were advised to bring an electronic money card and tap it on the card reader device inside the bus (tap on bus).[2]

As of 31 October 2022, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Finance number 138/PMK.02/2022,[3] all bus services on the Teman Bus program began to charge fares. The fare charged for the Greater Bandung area is IDR 4,900 for one trip. Trans Metro Pasundan accepts cashless payments from electronic money cards, digital wallets, or banking apps that support payments with QRIS.[4]

As of 1 July 2023, passengers required to pay the service using electronic money cards, which allows passenger to use the integration fare during transit or changing corridors without having to pay again. This integration fare is valid for 90 minutes.[5] Besides that, the service is free for students and elderly or disabled passengers, provided they register first.[6]

List of corridors and stops

[edit]

Trans Metro Pasundan consists of five corridors which serves the Bandung city area and its surroundings. There are two code formats on each corridors. The first format is K-(number)-BD, where K is an abbreviation of koridor (corridor, in Indonesian), while BD is an abbreviation of Bandung. The second format is (number)-D on realtime bus departure schedule map, where D refers to the vehicle registration code of Bandung, D.

For example, corridor 4 of Trans Metro Pasundan on Teman Bus realtime map is named 4D. While on the Teman Bus integration map and running text on each bus fleets, corridor 4 is named K4BD.

On its first day of operation, Trans Metro Pasundan operated a fleet of 85 buses. This fleet is composed of two bus sizes, medium buses capable of carrying 40 passengers with 20 seats, and large buses with room for 60 passengers with 30 seats.[8] Each bus has priority seats for disabled passengers[9] as well as CCTV cameras for security.[10]

Buses on corridors 1, 4, and 5 are provided and operated by Perum DAMRI, while the rest are operated by Big Bird.[11]

Future development

[edit]

Trans Metro Pasundan and other bus systems in Bandung are planned to be upgraded to a full bus rapid transit system with its standards, adopting TransJakarta. If the plan is realized, it would be named Trans Bagja (Bus Angkutan Jabar Juara, lit.'Bus Transport for West Java The Champ') BRT.[12] The World Bank provides financial support to the BRT development plan.[13]
