Mention of extermination camps
[edit]Shouldn't this template mention extermination camps, at least as a related concept? Several facilities had both concentration and extermination camps. pbp 23:16, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- User:Purplebackpack89 Thanks for your comment. In the academic literature, "Nazi concentration camps" refers to a specific system of camps under the jurisdiction of the SS Main Economic and Administrative Office as opposed to other Nazi camps. Camps like Kulmhof, Treblinka or Sobibor were not part of this system (they were administered separately) and they were not concentration camps in the broader definition since people were not concentrated there, instead immediately killed. (Can provide sources if necessary). The only extermination camp that was part of the Nazi concentration camps was Auschwitz II-Birkenau. I'm not opposed to mentioning them as a related topic, but right now the template does not have any space for related topics. (t · c) buidhe 23:23, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
