[edit]

The picture used for this LDS-stub template is the statue/logo of the LDS church based in Utah. If we plan to use this on all Latter Day Saint related stub pages then it would be better to change the logo. Maybe a picture of Joseph Smith? --dbolton (talk) 15:44, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The statue is not a LDS logo, nor is it an uniquely Latter Day Saint symbol. This image is of a replica of Bertel Thorvaldsen's The Christus. The original was created for Vor Frue Kirke, a Lutheran cathedral in Copenhagen which is the National Cathedral of Denmark. While the LDS Church has commissioned replicas of this statue for several of their temple visitor centers, many other non-LDS replicas exist; for example there is a replica in the Administrative Building of Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Church of Peace (Sanssouci) in Potsdam, the evangelical Church the Savior in Bydgoszcz, and the "Sturkö kyrka" in Blekinge, Sweden. For this reason the image should be replaced with something that is truly representative of the Latter Day Saint movement. -- 71.223.118.122 (talk) 04:36, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The glass painting looks nice but not in 40px size. I changed the picture to an icon of the angel Moroni that's used by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs on headstones of LDS soldiers. Entheta (talk) 23:09, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
