People list

[edit]

@StAnselm: I'm curious as to your rationale for keeping the "People" list. This template was created by a now-banned user, who seemed to be in the habit of listing everyone mentioned in a book, whether or not they were significant to the content. On many templates, editors have removed these lists, presumably for this reason. For example, the character of Abraham is mentioned in Galatians 3, but that passage is mostly about the relationship between a god and humanity, which supposedly started with Abraham. The article on Abraham doesn't mention Galatians, and shouldn't, because the connection isn't particularly notable. If an article doesn't transclude a nav template, it probably shouldn't be linked from it, in the spirit of WP:BIDIRECTIONAL. -- Beland (talk) 08:31, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not particularly worried bout edits by banned users. I do understand the bi-directionality issue, and it doesn't seem the template belongs on many pages - possibly Paul, but his page doesn't have all the NT book templates (Acts, but not 1 Corinthians, for example). I'm happy to remove the people, but we need to keep Paul - move him to "related" perhaps? StAnselm (talk) 21:00, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Paul the Apostle lists the various books he may or may not have written in his infobox. -- Beland (talk) 23:24, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
