Controversy section

[edit]

If John McCain were not running for President, would the Controversy section be as long as it is? I think most of that section can be edited down or transferred to a more appropriate article.--Sand Squid (talk) 20:39, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The problems at WQED are (or were) huge, enough so that an entire book was written on the topic - more than eight years ago. WQEX was one of the casualties of this mess, national programming origination from WQED another. There's no reason to edit down something of this severity, and WQEX/WQED are indeed the appropriate articles. --I613 (talk) 05:27, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The citations do not appear to support the language used. The Jerrold Starr article cited at the beginning of the section, for example, does not use the word "bloated," the term "top heavy management" or the phrase "long history of mismanagement." More careful use of sources is imperative. Otherwise, this comes off as a hatchet job that threatens Wikipedia's integrity and credibility. But even with more solid scholarship, I'm sure the writeup could be halved and still make its point. Readers wanting this much detail should buy Starr's book. Sign-offs

[edit]

There seriously has to be a small section about QEX's legendary and hilarous sign-offs. I don't have the knowledge about their origin and creation, but so many Pittsburghers went to bed smiling and laughing because who expects a comedy sketch for a sign-off? Can anyone help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:541:200:B:50E:707D:E6E:8AF0 (talk) 07:01, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
