Footnoting the upcoming paper - wp does not normally allow for 'crystal ball gazing' but in this case I think its worth mentioningBridesmill 05:35, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Point of View

[edit]

This article tends to paint SIL in a rather positive light. There is evidence that SIL has had an extremely negative effect on the Urarina people (http://saiic.nativeweb.org/ayn/urupdate.html). (See also the Wikipedia entry for SIL and scroll down to 'Controversy'.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.21.159.135 (talk) 04:55, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No original research

[edit]

I'm concerned that this article might be one big violation of Wikipedia:No original research. It looks like almost the entire article is based off of work by Bartholomew Dean, who happens to share the same exact name as Bdean1963, who, in turn, is the main editor of this article. I have no reason to believe that any of the information is incorrect, but the rules are clear: No original research --Descendall 07:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I look at it, some of it looks like outright advertising: "See Bartholomew Dean's forthcoming, Ambivalent Exchanges: Urarina Society, Cosmos and History in Peruvian Amazonia. University Press of Florida, 2007, which represents the first book-length ethnographic account of Urarina society, culture history and shamanic resistance." Come on now. --Descendall 07:23, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I took it out. Wikipedia can't be the first place you publish your work. --Descendall 01:06, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coords

[edit]

It would be nice to see geographic coordinates added to this article. I don't know the topic well enough to do it myself.
