Fly Jock

[edit]

Does my memory serve correct that Joyner used to commute daily from Dallas to Chicago? I seem to remember seeing something of this sort on some show like Dateline NBC.

Controversy

[edit]

Information regarding Joyner's controversy and racist attacks need to be presented in the article. That is my reason for posting them. I thank you for not trying to cover up fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.63.192.26 (talk) 18:53, 16 April 2007‎ (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely!!! I was shocked to read this Wiki page and not see anything about the other side of the persona. I first came across this guy when I moved to Miami and listen to his show in the morning. He is vulgar, racially divisive and I would say a very bad influence among black youth. If I had a child I would not allow them to listen to this guy period.

Someone needs to step up to the plate here and put some balance into this page!

His book

[edit]

Due to my not even being aware of Tom Joyner until recently acquiring his book "I'm Just a DJ but ... It Makes Sense to Me" my opinion about Joyner is limited to the "experience" attained from having read the first few pages of the book but, from the little I have read so far, I am very impressed with what I have read so far, much more than what the typical book I read impresses me.

I am a prodigious reader of non-fiction and within the USA working-poor white demographic. Perhaps my opinion will change as I delve further into his book but as it stands I am impressed with Joyner's expressed thoughts and attitudes and may find tolerance for some of the complaints about Joyner as expressed above.
