Naming Convention

I'm going to take this anime on since I really like it. I think it should have a reasonably good article (and not just a plot summary). The first thing I did is change Sevalle (which I think is the french spelling) to Sevaar(which is what the fandub's call it and sounds closer to the original japanese セヴァール (Seva-ru)) Anyone read japanese? I'm going to extract what I can from this: http://f16.aaa.livedoor.jp/~echigo/hondana/shadow1.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kraftlos (talk • contribs) 23:11, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Weird, there's a bot that signs your comments for you :P That's a good idea. Anyway, it looks like much of this was either copied from somewhere or was written up as original research. Eitherway, if I can't find sources for the information, I'm going to have to remove it. As a result, this article probably will be shrinking.... --Kraftlos (talk) 22:04, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Actually the ADV Films translation is Sevalle. Because of that I am going to change it back.Animalia555 (talk) 21:25, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- I still don't see how that is more accurate to the original Japanese. I'm going to have to double-check that, I have the DVD's. --Kraftlos (talk) 00:01, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I just did a quick survey of the web sites and it appears that only ADV films and the people commenting on the ADV release call them Sevalle/Valle. Anime News Network, the fansub community and the only fan site for shadow skill (shadowskill.co.uk) list the names as Sevaar/Vaar. These have been the standard name for almost a decade before ADV picked up the show, I'm not sure why we should change the whole article simply because ADV spells it a different way, even if they have the US license. I'll still check the dvd's, but even if they do have that spelling, I don't think we should change it. --Kraftlos (talk) 00:13, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Official Anime and Manga Manual of Style:
Regarding names:
- Characters should be identified by their most commonly known name, as per Wikipedia's naming conventions. This may not necessarily be the same as the official name(s).
- Character names should be given in western order and, in the case of a dictionary list, in boldface.
Unless you can prove Valle and Sevalle are more common, I think we have to stick to Vaar and Sevaar as has been the tradition for the last ten years or so since the first fan-dubs came out. --Kraftlos (talk) 10:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
hmph!
[edit]this article is written very informally. needs to be cleaned up or tagged. Panda
- Not very helpful, why don't you do it yourself? --Kraftlos (talk) 18:43, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Why hasn't the article been reviewed?
[edit]My above comment was made quite some time ago and no one has tagged this article for formality? Panda —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.24.41.104 (talk) 01:45, 27 January 2007 (UTC).
- I have given it the {{cleanup}} tag, but you could've also just done it yourself, by the way. --Remy Suen 13:29, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Shadow Skill cover.jpg
[edit]Image:Shadow Skill cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Split
[edit]Most of this page is dedicated to character descriptions. As this is a series and several OAVs, it might be prudent to move these character descriptions to a separate page and keep these down to about 2-3 sentences. --Kraftlos (talk) 20:19, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Since there were no objections, I'm going to split the page now and take down the tag. We really should get some references on this page too. Characters of Shadow Skill --Kraftlos (talk) 00:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Win
[edit]This article used to be full of win. I miss the lulzy character descriptions.86.42.203.100 (talk) 16:06, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- What's that supposed to mean? Have you looked at List of Shadow Skill characters? Most the character info is there. --Kraftlos (talk) 22:12, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Expansion
[edit]I think this series received a bit of coverage back when it released on DVD a few years ago. I'm gonna try to dig up some sources, the I'll post them here. --Kraftlos (talk) 04:48, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, still haven't had time to get to that. Wow this article is bad. >.> --Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 08:22, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

- I'm somewhat lukewarm about list articles, but most anime series have a List of ### episodes sub-article, perhaps I can make one here someday. --Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 09:54, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
