Unsourced statements

[edit]

There are currently three statements in this article that don't have reliable sources:

  1. The movie is widely known for its videotaped soap opera look and its public broadcasting production style, which some critics say was its downfall, but was done to cut costs and allow digital effects to be used.
  2. This film has been likened to a video hybrid between 1984, Tron, and Brainstorm.
  3. Some consider this film an inspiration for The Matrix, noting the similarities at the showdown between Fingal and the Chairman, Appolonia and Fingal's growing relationship, and the decision that Fingal makes at the end to oppose the corporation(s) that rule the world.

(Bold emphasis mine to point out signs of what Wikipedia ungraciously calls "weasel words".) Some of this information (passing references to Tron and The Matrix and mention of the video and digital effects) can be found in the detailed review at the Agony Booth, but this is a site run by a single self-appointed reviewer, and has an Alexa rating under 200,000, well below even the informal 100K-threshhold for notability. There are no other sources to support phrases like "critics say" and "some consider", making it sound more like disguised original research. Can we find reliable sources for this information? ~ Jeff Q (talk) 10:04, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've just removed the above unsourced statements. If someone can dig up reliable sources for them, they should include these sources as citations when re-adding them. Otherwise, they're likely to get deleted again. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 03:19, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly it looks fine without them in there, so I suggest they be left out (Unless someone DOES turn up the legit sources). 68.39.174.238 09:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a few odds and ends, but mostly just plot points. I did put back the fact that the film was videotaped as this is an important format note. 23skidoo 20:36, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You must have missed above that we need some legit sources. -Xcuref1endx (talk) 15:58, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Graduate from Stub?

[edit]

I don't think this needs to be a stub anymore. I added the infobox, but I think all of the other prerequisites are already present. Grabbuel 20:50, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Updated to start class. PKT(alk) 16:04, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot

[edit]

The plot section is too long and detailed. There is no need for a blow-by-blow description of the story. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 14:32, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PBS

[edit]

Is there a source that shows that the movie is distributed by PBS? -Xcuref1endx (talk) 19:08, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Country of origin

[edit]

Lead says the film is Canadian but the infobox says American. Which is it? Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:49, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed it to make it Canada. GamerPro64 06:53, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fair and good but it says it's produced by an American and Canadian television in the prose. So is it Canadian? American? or a bit of both? Need to get that confirmed. Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:16, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it was co-produced by an American television station but it was started by a Canadian company. It was also shot in Canada. Its a Canadian movie. GamerPro64 01:45, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Instead added both United States and Canada with country. GamerPro64 01:51, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
