Suggested amendment to opening

[edit]

I suggest adding 'who is best know for producing The Wizard of Oz, 1939 film starring Judy Garland'. I appreciate that though this is his most enduring and therefore his best known work, I seek consensus that is the work he is best know for. Your thoughts please... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trinkella (talkcontribs) 23:36, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Academy Awards info

[edit]

I am guessing that BD stands for Best Director and BP for Best Picture, but it seems that BA stands for either Best Actor or Best Actress. Using abbreviations without a guide is probably not advisable - especially when one abbreviation stands for 2 different categories. Also, there are several films that were nominated and/or won where there are no abbreviations - nothing to tell the reader what awards LeRoy’s films were nominated for or what Oscars those films won.Jtyroler (talk) 11:46, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MOS notice on Style, section headings

[edit]

Dear Albany, NY: You posted an MOS on Style. Can you provide examples of what needs to be adjusted in the article to bring it in compliance with Wiki rules on Style? --Lord Such&Such (talk) 15:38, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

All of the guidelines are at WP:HEAD. Which article are you asking about specifically? --Albany NY (talk) 22:04, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
Are the Style corrections I've made to Mervyn LeRoy satisfactory re: Italics? Any other Style issues you've noted? --Lord Such&Such (talk) 15:45, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your edits. Many of the film titles are still not italicized. See the sections "Director at M-G-M", "Comedies, melodramas and a literary remake: 1946-1950", and "Return to director-producer" (bold film titles). --Albany NY (talk) 15:59, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up. Will do. Just to say, I was under the (incorrect) impression that linking a film to its article made Italics superfluous. Clearly, that was a misapprehension. --Lord Such&Such (talk) 16:09, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

As regard to headings, I'd like to emphasis the the films within a chronological period for LeRoy, and I've done that. HOWEVER, I do not wish to confer upon each of these (relatively) minor films in his oeuvre with a pair of "equal signs" (see MOS). Do you know of a method by which I can introduce the film title with a link to that movie AND include BOLD? This is how I currently have it set up. You apparently believe this violates MOS. Any suggestions? --Lord Such&Such (talk) 16:43, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
I do not see a problem with the page as it currently stands. The MOS problem I had identified was the lack of italics, which is now fixed. You are welcome to remove the notice. --Albany NY (talk) 17:30, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
I've applied the MOS Style notice to my updated article John Frankenheimer. Feel free to make appropriate corrections. --Lord Such&Such (talk) 17:10, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Wizard of Oz wiki commons image

[edit]

The image you removed has been long posted at Victor Fleming. I added a new tag to the same image I posted at the Mervyn LeRoy ariticle. Why has this been removed? If the image at Victor Fleming pasts muster, why not LeRoy's article? RSVP.--Lord Such&Such (talk) 15:21, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
